plus I took ( Bad Advice ) , a friend I won't name names to embrace him, told me I should put a 70 lb sand bag in the nose of the boat as a ballast weight. What a joke I told them it was a bad idea yeah I said them. I couldn't get ( any bow lift , or speed ) that's the last time I will take advice like that lol. They thought I couldn't handle a fast boat ~ scratches chin ~ ( I had a 14ft 1968 G.W. Invader that 2 guys my size could pick up the boat without the motor, I had a 1976 115 merc on it and it would run 68 - 70 on Radar in 1987 lol ) The Invader would run out on the lower unit in the water at FULL THROTTLE ~winks~ I was a speed freak at 20 lol, now I'm 42 and just a little more touched as a adrenaline junky.

This is my competition , my buddy Jeremy workin on his boat ( yes the jet drive was replaced and outdrive added ( 450hp 355, with a 26 pitch 5-blade stainless prop ) ( he's building a 800 hp blower motor for this boat ~sheeze and they say I'm Nutz~

Gus I just had a News Flash my buddy Jeremy's dad had a Trimate II with a In-line 6 cyl Merc 150 with a 24 pitch chopper and he had it mounted to the transom and it would ride the bullet with the whole boat out of the water and the best he did on the factory speedo was 70mph, maybe the 70 / wall is in the hull design ??

**( Hey Yall Watch This )** News Flash my Mate will be launched this Labor Day weekend :) It has been long over do, I switched trailers- I have to rewire trailer lights and finish some little things to the engine and she will be ready for Launch (( Runs and does a back flip ~ ))
( I have a need for speed ) I just finished repacking the wheel bearings and putting on the new rims and tires on the trailer. ( Battery is on the charger as we speak lol, I can't wait lol it's been since 2006 since I have had her on the water ) ( Shouts-- Guss hey bro need a hand over there, if I had vacation time left I'd come give you a hand ) I can't wait to get to a checkmate event and meet everyone. ( Coop how are things in Ohio ???? ) ;)

Labor Day Voiage

Well everyone I have my beast running and tuned up.. I will be putting it on the water tomorrow. ( I'm trying a 26 pitch Cleaver and god does this power head have compression ;) )
It doesn't want to idle under 1200 rpm lol. I'm gonna try to get some good pictures tomorrow god willing it's a good day. ( hey Shane where you gonna be?? )

;) hey everyone... I had a great test spin on the lake today, I had double oil mixed in my motor for breaking it in. I couldn't wined her up fresh motor and all ( I ran out of prop-- it was at 7,000 rpm with a 26 pitch clever prop, I got 52.6 on GPS, the lake was way to ruff to trim her out. ) I had a blast only on the lake for 3 hours but I recharged my batteries and I'm good for a minute lol :)

If you can't get your idle down some you may want to disrupt your nuetral safety switch before you break some teeth. How many Rpm's do you figure this motors gonna spin? 53 at 7000 is over 40% slippage. R you sure that tach is reading right?

the tach is reading right, it was fouling cause I had double oil in it that is the only reason I had idle set high set it down a little later in the day it should be good the next time I'll set it down more, I have enough compression that the new 675 cold cranking amp battery barley kept up. ( you could feal the slippage, the prop is a brand new cleaver that is a 26 pitch I think I need a 28 )

( I want to make sure my set up is right, I have a friend that had a trimate II with a inline 6 150 on his and he was getting 65 -70 with his mounted to the back of the boat no jack-plate )

If your running that much compression i hope your running better than premium. Your 26 should still be pulling better numbers that what your getting even with a bad setup.

I ran 92 octane this time but I'm going to be buying a 5 gal can of Klotz 113 or 118 after the 10 hr break in time. ( I will take any good advice any want to share on what I should look for to fix my lil glitches in my set-up ) Thanks for the advice ;)

Good to see you got her wet. The cleaver is not a good prop on the back of that boat. I tried a bunch on mine, never could get it to work. Way to much slip.

I have a local ( Hot Boat shop that said I can try some props that he has to find out what I need ) Guss, how many Rpm's are you turning with the 27 pitch Laser 2 ??? I will take my camera and get some fly by shots and pics of the set-up on the back of the boat. This Saturday I will take it to one of the resevors to work with it ( less boat traffic ). ;)

Guss do you do vinyl lettering?? I want to do a checkmate decal like on the side of mine except the silver and black it would be Yellow with a black and red out line ( what do you think ?? ) there is a local shop that I can get them to do it but I figured I'd ask you first.

Grrrrr I found out the guy that sold me the Clever Lied it was only a 24 and I was 53 mph at 8-9000 rpm.... I just tried a 26 pitch prop like a chopper I got 60 mph at 7900-8000 rpm and yes the tach is right on checked it with a timing light with a built in tach I need to lower my motor location on the jack-plate I'm not getting enough ( lift )- it chine walked a lil at the 60 mark but since the motor is too high it didn't dance hard it was subtle at best the guy that let me try the prop has 26 to 30 pitch in the chopper style he has a " Hot Boat Shop and he runs a SVT tunnel, he said I could try each one till I got the speed and the Rpm's at the range I wanted so.............. next Saturday I'll try a 28 ;)
