Ross, so now that you've had both an I/O Checkie and the outboard Flite, which would be your preference if you had to choose only one?
Would you prefer an outboard or an I/O?
Personally, I've never had an I/O and always had outboards.

Our lake isn't too big, but we do have a few nice I/O's on the lake. Some of the boats are actually tourists I think, that show up on long weekends once in a while. But I digress...to be totally honest.....i fell in love with the sound of a bbc... i mean a 4 cylinderthe reason i sold the flite was no less than the location of where we live now. when i bought the flite we did live here in the same place but i was just looking to get on the water. once i had to trailer the boat an hour from the beautiful lake michigan to use it, i decided i needed that bbc sound and the hull to go with it! ( we can see the big water from the end of the drive ) i loved the flite, just wasnt big enough for the water here close to home.....wish i could have both but didnt make sense at the time
in the future i may look for a smaller o/b ( maybe a predictor) and throw a big mota on it but we will see. there are a few more reasons but that will be disclosed at a later date

If you don't mind me chiming in, I also grew up on outboards. Comparing apples to apples, I have had enchanters in both forms. I love the interior room, light weight, ease of wrench turning, and performance of the outboard. Love the sound, ease of modding motors, unlimited rear view, overall look, and ride in rough water the I/O gives. Each has their strong points and weak points. With that being said, I do not see me ever not owning a I/O boat. I have even thought about doing a 4 cyl I/O conversion on a playmate. I still love my O/B's thoWould you prefer an outboard or an I/O?

If money was no object, buy one of eachEvery once in a while when I'm dreaming, I often wonder if I bought a new boat and money was no object, would it be a 2100 with a 300 XS, or instead, would a I get a big block I/O which is somewhat warmed up.

If money was no object, buy one of eachI personally would love a 2400LD with a BBC
, but I am thinking a bit bigger than that
