Silverado Owners Question?

Hey guys,
I bought my truck mostly as a purpose only tow vehicle. I like to pull the boat around and see new lakes and rivers and I easily will tow 5,000 miles per year. It is a 2004 2500HD with the Vortec 496 with 70,000 miles and its loaded up with all the goodies. I wanted the good seats with all the adjustments as Satasha (wifey) gets cranky when she sits too long. Well, I think I'm the one that's getting cranky. I never seem to get comfortable.

I was looking to see if I could buy a dead pedal as I think that is part of my problem. I also hate the leather and feel like I slip and slide around in the seats and that makes me uncomfortable too.

Has anyone ever installed seats out of a Bimmer or Merc in their truck? If not does anyone have any suggestions?

I could trade you my cloth interior but I doubt you want to downgrade your truck.
You could swap seats from a different vehicle but will have to make brackets to mount to your seat frames.

Or it could be as simple as find a local car upholstery shop and having them cut yours apart and put a suede or micro fiber insert in them. Would give you a nice custom look and would solve the "slippery" feeling you have. I know that's how the seats in my Lightning were and they were a million times more comfortable than the leather seats in my Silverado SS.

I know that comfort is all a personal preference but if it were me the leather would be on its way out! I had an 04 crew cab a few years back with every option but leather pretty much and to me the bucket front seats with a center console in that truck was about the most comfortable truck I have owned! My new ford would beat it if it didnt have quite so much fat man syndrome but even my 12 Silverado was not as good.

Well if it's just slippery seats that are the problem set of seat covers would be a cheap fix to try out and if it didn't work easily reversible. I think you could make a temporary dead pedal out of a block of wood and Velcro it in place as well to see if that helps. A 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 with some trimming on the backside to fit the floor and some rubber matting on the front would give you an idea if it works.

I am on a couple of truck forms all the time and you're one of the few who has any complaints about the old-style classic seats, when the new body style came out in 2008 many were complaining about the new seats not being as comfortable as the old.

None of the guys on the forms that I visit replaced their seats unless they were upgrading to power seats, from a newer GM truck so I don't know of any fix Replacing with BMW/other.

back when we had a suburban with leather seats we got a few bath towels to put on the bottom of the seat to sit on. it made it so much better and only cost 5 dollars.

I've had four Silverado's so far with cloth interior and all are comfortable. The suspension on the 2500 is stiffer than the 1500 series which is what I have. Remember it's a truck not a car so comfort factor isn't the same.

Maybe I'll try and find some cloth seats somewhere. My '06 3500 had leather and I didn't have the same problem.

trying to do a car seat in a truck would not be easy...better off looking at a aftermarket truck seat that would be a bolt in and have the height you would need, but I have not found the silverado seats to be bad at all...

I was serious When I said that Id trade you my cloth seats. I have light wear on the edge, I can send a picture if interested. Would want to do ft and rear seats so they match.

Theres a device made you can bolt to your seat to help keep you from sliding around.
