Seems as though someone has been using the thanks button in an inappropriate way, actually gone out of their way to create a bogus account just to go back and thank my old posts because they were worried YF might have the most thanks on the forum and not him, I'm guessing he picked me just because I was not far behind, I remember one day a few months ago I noticed my number of posts thanked jumped by over 500, in one day, how much time did that take  :shakehead:

Just want everyone to know it's not me doing this just so I can have the most thanks, I really don't care about who the hell has more reputation and that's not why I post the stuff I do.

I'm getting tired of finding old posts of mine with a thanks for absolutly no reason, like I'll ask someone what their doing for the weekend, that deserves a thanks :rof:

Can I get a thanks Cookie Monster ?

Whats the screen name giving all the thanks? Surprised anyone would give 2 shats. That rep stuff means nothing.

AHHH thats what the Cookiemonster jokes are i guess.

This is just a fine example of the (very few) people who bring this place down. The few who have gone out of their way to discredit and disrespect me. I guess it drives them nuts that someone can possibly do better than they are in life. Typical, when in person, I'd say they are the type of people who can not look me in the eye if they had to. A good ol' "E-Thug", LOL!!!!

Funny you should mention it John. I've also noticed the abuse of the thanks button in the 4 word post thread and contacted the other mods. I'd like to see the whole 'rep power' and 'thanks' thing go away completely , kinda worthless in my opinion.

Irony defined...

I thanked his post with the very button and mechanism he's proposing be eliminated. I find that very ironical. I'm a nerd.

I use it as a like button as well as I'm sure lots do, and it's kinda nice to have for that reason, if you like someone's post you can show that without commenting if you don't really have anything to say, and I think that works well for that, maybe just don't count them? I dunno, it means nothing anyway.

Hi Gang,

I've got no problem disabling the thanks button if that's what you want done.

Sorry, I wasn't aware it was being abused.

When I initially installed it, it was supposed to be a positive thing, but if people think it's become a negative thing overall then I can remove it.

I think the basic idea of it, was that it provided a way to say thanks to someone for a post you like, almost like the "like" button works with Facebook.

Let me know what you would like to do and we'll make it happen.

The thanks button is great and I use it as a like button. It sounds more like a game being played to increase rep power. Who even pays any attention to the rep power. I just thought rep was for people with unlimited play time.

I use it as a like button, it's a good way of showing someone you like what they are doing or saying with or without a comment. If it's causing trouble you could leave the button and remove the count log.

I changed up what the little stats board reports on and removed the top thanked members stat box.

Hopefully with that stat removed, there won't be much point to padding thanks or worrying about who has the most or least.
