hey all, trying to "seal the deal"on an 88 starflite,no title.the owner is trying to replace the title @ new york state d.m.v. website. we need to know the five letter designation for the factory name checkmate?can anyone holding a n.y.s. title help out?alex:brickwall:

Okay I just tried to type on the form CHECKMATE and you call only type 5 letters. I belive the correct spelling would be cmate. Thats what was on mine from a different state. Not 100% sure on NY

Ohio has Checkmate spelled out. We got respect here in the birthplace of our boats!

I would say you can call tomorrow and find out for sure. Don't want to extend the title time by putting the wrong code in there and it getting kicked out of the system.

I'm NY registered boater, i'll have to look for my title but i did look at my registration and it simply has "CHECK", i would guess it's probably the same as the title. Hope that helps!

hey all, thanks for all the replies.haven't heard from the boat owner as of yet.the boat i,m trying toget is an"88" starflite w/200 blackmax.616 hrs, sitting since 2003. $200

I have never seen a 5 letter boat manufacture designation, I have only seen a three letter, in this case would be CHK, you should notice this as the first three characters of your hull id number. hope this helps,

really!? i'm giving the owner a call this afternoon @"halftme".this info may help. i really-really want this boat guys!!!the motor serial # is 6409243.can anyone confirm the year? 1983?

hey all,i contacted the n.y.s.d.mv. title bureau office.
this boats title was "purged" from the system for being unregistered for 7 years!
this is the list of items needed to get a duplicate title;
-completed mv 82
-vin trease or photo of h.i.n. number
-signed statement of no open liens
-notorized statement of period of ownership
-$20 check payable to dmv
-current drvers license as i.d.
DO YOU THINK THE OWNER OF THIS BOAT, THAT WAS LEFT FOR DEAD IN AN EMPTY LOT WILL DO ALL THIS FOR A $200 OFFER?
I DON'T THINK SO!!!!

Doesn't seem like a bad list, I would think the owner would love to get rid of it, considering the condition of the boat, they should pay you!! lol.. Did you check on getting a salvage or abandoned title? That could be another route.

Smart move, that boat for 200 is only good for parts. I would bet 100 bucks the transom and stringers are rotton.
