trimate II rehab

Not sure what he used but there is a material called "wacky wood" Its about 1/4" thick plywood type and you can bend it and twist it in all kinds of shapes. Alot of stereo shops use it.

wow guys yall sure now how to make someone feel good. the material i used on the radius was some 1/8x4 balsa wood that i soak in alcohal(rubbing) not beer.:D i build R C airplanes and that was some stock left over off a kit i built. once it is wet it is very easy to bend as yellowfeiro88 said. then i made some peices the same as my dash and glued them in place to take the shape of my dash. so i had the M part of the dash built seperate, then with a sanding block i shape the bottom part flat to the existing dash then i tacked it down to the boat with some c.a. glue.( more rc stuff.) i left my peices long so after i tack them to the new dash, i sanded of any eccess then started the filler process and rounding off all the conners. after i got everythink slicked out , i began the glassing proccess and then with three passes of chopstrand and one pass of s glass i started the finishing, first with 80 grit then some 120. it was a little fustrating because i had something way more technical in my head. i just couldnt make it happen.

hey karzrus i left u a return reply i hope u got it, i am no computer guy so i hope it went trough.

hey guys i have been some what out of pockett. my old ford deisal does not like this freakn azz cold weather.:brickwall: i been doing a lot of part changing on her. she has 250.000 miles on her and she is tired. ok enough winning lika baby.:eyecrazy: got a cold weekend ahead and i am gona try to do some more work on the mate. i havent decided if i want to put a full bench in the back or split it with a console. i have built both and like both of them. i just need to decide and put the viynl on it. going tomorro and pick up needle and thread for sewing mach. :D well good night and sleep tight.:D

I think if you raised the seat up a bit to cover the gap in the middle and custom fit it a little bit it would look great. I really like what you are doing with this project, keep us posted.

hey thanks nerd.:bigthumb: come on, i need yalls opinion here. just one post thats it.:shakehead: i am gona recover them in white being the base color with some blue checker board, trimed out in yellow. please help a friend in need ;) its just an opinion. i want hold it against ya:poke:

It looks good but like Nerd said, raise it up. Personally, I would just make new wood back that is 100% match since you are recovering it anyway.

I like the custom look, but agree with the others need to fill the gap. Also if you hinge the seat forward do/will you have enough room to reach over for access to the batteries, fuel tank etc.

thanks cmpulse i havent been able to study it a bunch. work work work

thanks guys i have another set of seats coming out of another bass boat. dont know what they look like yet. as for a the gap in the middle, i will glass up the hole to match the seats and mold them in to look like a factory set up. if that is possible. thanks for the support. i need all i can get..

hey freinds i am still here. even though my shop is heated, its been to cold and waaaaay to much work. i keep taking it on so i can have more $ for mate. i have been working two jobs.

Ain't it always that way? Either all work and no time for play or no work and don't really have the cash for play. Be glad your working, there is a lot who ain't.

well guys i have some disapointing news. after working my butt off the last few months and doing a trailer rebuild. i finaly got to pull my mate out of the old hay barn where i had it stored. i thought that i put it in a safe place from weather and it was sorta. i havent been in the old barn in a while. well as i went in to reclaim the mate, i found what was the most horrible thing i could have witness. the hull is full of water. so after i drained it, i found that the plywood on the front floor where the seats go is has all came apart from the water. i did not finish the glass work in the front because i still needed to finish the seat boxes. from futher investigating it looks like the roof was leaking in my boat and the drain plug hole was stopped up from the grinding and sanding dust that was left in the boat. i am very sick to my stomach because all the work i did on that boat is now worthless. ( well not all. but it does suck.) so now i am very discouraged and dont know what to do. i may just trash that one and try to find me a newer model checkmate. i am so upset. i cant even take a pic to show yall. not yet.

well my good friend has talked me in to keeping it. so i guess when it starts cooling off in fall i will tear out all the bad and do it again. i dont like going backwards. its not as bad as i thought, but it still sucks.
