Hi from Z06

Only the oldies will remember me...but I thought I'd stop by and see how things are on the old Checkmate site. Been YEARS since I've took the time to stop in and read anything!

Seems it's grown by leaps and bounds, I even see a direct link from the official Checkmate website, thats awesome! Good work Chris, Gus, and JW.

And for those who don't know me, I still have more posts than just about everyone, still holding the #8 spot...not bad for being out of the scene for a few years...heh. Talk about being a post-whore back when I was young and foolish.

I'm boatless at the moment, but would love to get myself into an older "starter" 'Mate, something cheap and small that I could pull around the city easily.

Anyways, thought I'd chime in...hope to hear from some of the old-timers!

What's happening Z?

I see by your new avatar that you're driving an Old's Alero? Done any mods to it??

Talk your step-dad into buying a nice new Pulsare, then you won't have to buy one of your own! All you'd have to supply is a little gas money :surf:

Intrigue ;). Only put on a set of nice rims, as I've only had it since the end of April. Not much planned for it either as it's an A -> B type of car. Leaves me my SUV for the sunny days & car shows around here (which lately has been once or twice a month :().

I don't think I could convince my old man into getting a boat now-a-days. Oddly enough, this morning I saw an old Pulsare 2100, I haven't seen one (or a Checkmate) around Ottawa in well over a year, odd coincidence but it was nice to see one (even if it was on a trailer). I'm now on the hunt for a small boat with decent power (100-150) to play with for a few years before I step up to something bigger. Want to sell that Nice Pulse of yours? Looks great!!!!

Edit: Just found your F/S thread...HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Hey Z, Checkmate has a couple of dealers up your way now. Jim Earl, and another one over in Gatinea(sp), you should at least check out a few new ones.

Lots of things have gone on since you was around much. Checkmate is under new ownership. I'm the delivery guy now, among many other jobs.

Yah I know there are a few around here, but anything new is out of my range at the moment. I wouldn't expect them to hold much interesting used stock either, not too many "cool" boats for sale in my area, and if there is, they are way overpriced. My best bet is probably going to be finding something down south.

Didn't know about the ownership change, are Bill/Kip still in the picture, or was it a complete walk and takeover situation? Hopefully it's as good as it was before. That sounds like a sweet job though!

Oh, your in for a treat. :D Doug Smith, former owner of Baja, bought it. Mike and Kip still work there. Actually, it is a pretty decent place to work now.

Hey Z, I'm glad you are alive and well! You should stop around a little more often......

Hey dude,

Chris (the guy with the Black 'Stream), sold his place next to the folks cottage and moved out to BC with the boat in tow. Not sure if he still has it or not...haven't talked to him in a while. Had that white VooDoo too, I wish I had bought that boat but I didn't have the money 3 years ago for it. Too bad.

We're rocking a Miami Vice colour'ed Gayli....err...Bayliner Capri at the moment...which is getting pretty dull haha.

Good work on the site, love the new look, and love all the new members you've gotten! I still remember back in my early days...good to see most of the oldie still remember the Z-Man!!!!!!!!
