I would prefer twin engines in a 30' boat. It is nice looking though.
isn't the 30 really only a 28 ??
I agree with Red -- M/K at one time I would have sworn by twins but with the lighter hulls and the advancements that come along with them, I would rather have a single with 650 big boys and a single drive pushing me then twins with twice the headaches.
Also that my be a true 30' that swim platform is attached and not molded into the boat.
Totally disagree with this in a Checkmate. Why would twins be needed when one single can put the 30 footer over 100mph. No twin engine is needed in any Checkmate
Red is just stating an opinion but if you look around all of your performance MFG's (Whats left of them) are using single power up to 30 foot boats. Reason -- 1- keeping the cost down --2 -- It is just not nec. to get to 75 to 80 where most of these guys are gettin you today with a stock boat.Really....??? Not questioning, but curious....![]()

BR- The notch in the transom is an insert and not actually in the mold (I think).
Gotcha, the 100mph mark in a single 30' I/O would take some serious 750+ HP to obtain though....
I beleive the fastest 30' Mates are single BBCs not twins.
