Trailer Restoration Ideas Please

Okay, I'm rebuilding a 79 Eluder and the trailer needs a major overhaul as well. I have a lot of ideas about what I'm going to do to improve the trailer, but would like to see some pictures from those of you who have done upgrades to your trailers. What handy or trick features have you added that have made it better?

I've refinished my trailer twice over the yrs to color match my trucks.Really didn't do much customizing to it. Just new crank and new wheel jack, tires, new lights and wires.I did mount three running lights down each side which looks pretty cool at nite.

I used a dewalt grinder with a super heavy wire cup on it. Take all the scale and old garbage off of the whole trailer with this. Then I used Duplicolor spary on bedliner coating in a can. This gives a nice textured finish and hides alot of stuff. Its pretty durrable.

if you dont mind me asking....what did the spray on bed liner cost? thats a great idea and never thought of it:sssh:

I had a tire come part last yr on my way down to cumberland.Beat the fender up pretty good.So this spring I get to bump that out and re spray it.This will give me chance to do touch-ups before July 17th.
And as well I can clean up a few knots to the trucks rear bumber too!

Ross, its only like 8 bucks a can. I used about 4-5 cans on my Predictor trailer.
The nice part is, you can spot it in if you get any damage.

Can you post a picture? I'm curious to see what the trailer looks like with bed liner.

If you don't have steps in front of and behind the fenders i would add those along with LED lights. I also like to have the removable tongue jacks on my trailers.

This stuff is the ticket. You wont need the cleaners and crap, just a 3000psi pressure washer and let it dry before you paint..(by brush) looks nice and wont scratch after its dry.. 1qt cost about 40 bucks, and if you don't spill it will do a 20' trailer.

I never got a pic of it. The texture is light. Its like some of the stick on Bedcaps you would put on your truck bed. I have used it on all kinds of stuff. I used it to cover my bilge area in my Starflite.

The one thing I really like is you can get such a uniform texture over a large surface. With many of the roll/brush on products it is hard to make it look good.

I like the arosol spray.

I like the bedliner idea. I paint a lot of stuff I build with hammerite, mainly because it's practically idiot proof and touches up easily.

freshening up the trailer wasnt on the to do list.... till today :bigthumb:

Id like to get some real nice wheels on mine, but new wheels and tires for the truck will probably come first

Man you would be surprised how good the whole rig looks witha fresh looking trailer.

Discount tire has the best prices I have found on trailer tires. As for wheels I'ed look for a set of used ones that are the same specs. Actual "trailer wheels" cost a mint.

Aluminum wheels, disc brakes, square drop leg jack, new fenders, steps, LED lighting, DOT tape, checkmate logo, reverse light (very nice btw), guide poles, new winch, and new bunks!

My dump trailer complete with 20" wheels (aka "dub dumper")

I like the backup light too nice touch, where do you switch it from?
Wired into the harness! I got disc brakes on it so I had to do the reverse lockout. Ever try to back a disc brake setup without the solinoid?:brickwall: Also makes it nice when loading the boat on at night, lights up the water (sealed bulbs)!

I really like it.:thumb: Are the guide poles for chain link fencing? What size wood did you use on the rails?
