Enforcer Floor resto

I suppose it would have something to do with shearing the bolts from the torque. I've actually seen it both ways, so who knows what's correct. This is how the motor was rigged before I got it, look at the bolts:http://checkmate-boats.com/forums/album.php?albumid=27&pictureid=117

actually, i beleive the original reason was that the bolts would rub against the steering when tilted all the way up. they would hit the steering tube.

teleflex has grommets for the exact thru hull setup for your steering. i had a quick look for pics online but couldn't find them. your local marine supply will be able to get them for you.

Dang, I thought I'd be able to pick up a little of that mercury speed by switching them around... stupid slow omc motor:D

The boat is really coming together nicely- good work!

Looks great CMP170!!!!:bigthumb::bounce:

While we are talking mounting bolts...

What is your CL of prop shaft measurment in relation to the "vee".

From reading Wildman's posts, the 2400 seems to like about 3" below. I would assume that will work well for you too.

Good luck.

I think the CL of prop is 3" below the vee or close to it. I'll get an exact measurement this weekend.:thumb:

Looks great.. Can't believe how fast you have progressed. That setback does look good. Interested to see some numbers, now that you have pulled a few hundred net pounds out of it. Plus the bracket won't come off now either. :thumb:

I should've weighed the wet foam, floor and transom after it was removed. My guess is 200 pounds if not more, transom itself was soaked.:( I'm hoping to get some solid numbers this spring once the boat is back together. I've probably got a two solid weeks worth of work to finish what's left. Thanks for the compliments, it's been a heck of project.:thumb:

I'm sure all your hard work will pay off with years of trouble free boating, the way it should be.:bigthumb:

AWESOME job! To all you fellas who've bitten off restorations...I tip my hat. I really want to restore a Starflite some day...turn it into a real ripper with obscene HP. One day...one day.

I just measured the cl of prop to the bottom of the vee. The cl of prop is 3" below the vee pad. Right now I'm spinning a 24P raker and can get my hands on a 26P raker to try. So my setup is as follows:
250 HP Evinrude
24" setback
cl of prop 3" below vee
24P raker
I'll get some solid numbers this spring on the setup. The one item I have'nt found is the max rpm's for this motor other than conflicting reports which is 5800 to 6000 rpms.

I pulled the enforcer out today and cleaned up the outside since is was a nice day. I've got to finish painting the inside and top where the sunpad goes and fill in a couple of holes in the dash before the interior goes back in. Also need to replace the tube for the water pressure gauge since it broke during the floor and transom resto. I moved the boat forward on the trailer because the back would start swaying over 60 mph, so I'm hoping that will balance the boat better. Here's some pictures:

Looks great!

How much clearance does it have at the bow by that cross member? Its hard to tell in the pic... probably going to be alright, but I'd hate to see the bow touch the trailer while loading.

Glad to see the winter weather finally let up for you guys. We're expecting it to get into the 40s by the end of the week.

Not much clearance, I'm going to order either a roller or one of those rubber pieces that goes across the cross member.

Looks great. If I can get over this strep again, I need to get re-started on mine.

We got some kind of flu bug or virus that's been going around here. I've had it twice already, my wife and son has had it as well. The weather was in the mid 50's and sunny today so I take advantage of it.:)

the boat looks awesome. hope the family gets well. we have had our share of virus's also but that didnt stop us from taking the mate to the lake last sunday when it got into the sixtys. couldnt resist. :D

You've done one hell of a job with your boat! :thumb:

I'm glad to see the amount of progress you've made in such short time. It must be nice to be able to restore a boat rather then rebuilding one? Again, you should be very proud and I too can't wait for the results of your first run.
