Happened to be looking for some parts and I came across this site www.k-bid.com Did a search for both marine and boats and there is a nice 1989 Eluder w/a 175 Merc w/a Shorelandr' trl. Right now the highest bid is........$ FOUR DOLLARS!

Anyone know anything about his old Evinrude?

235 OMC .... That motor was the same basic block for the 150, 175, 200, and the 235 hp. It was the last of big "cross-flow" domed piston block engines before they starting building the big block loopers in 85-86. It was/is a pretty bullet-proof engine if it had reasonable care.

OK guys, I may have finally found my Motor!!!

So do you have it bolted on yet? We'd all like to see some #'s at some point....

    Max RPM?

Smaller Prop(s) Just a FYI....Don't expect one prop to give you BOTH better low end and top end. If that does happen then by all means hang on to it because that is a prop that the entire performance boating world has been searching for.....

    Evinrude mounts

You can also find solid mounts for your OMC on the " www.screamandfly.com "parts wanted" section of that board. I've seen them posted for sale many times.

    Evinrude 175 Rebuild/Performance Question

Gordon Montague of Florida does terrific work whether it be stock or mod on OMC's. I'm sure someone on " Scream N Fly " can put you in touch w/ him if not Stoker himself.

Champion or NGK for 89 Evinrude 225?

Nope....I will have to say that while I run NGK in my Merc(s) , Yamaha(s), all my snowmobiles and frankly everything that I can think of don't bother wasting your dough on that exotic cross-referenced plug. I drag raced a V-6 Gordon Montague " Monty" motor which was based on exactly the same...

    Question for our Merc Dealers

You might be confusing the 2001 problem Mercury had w/the Optimax engines and not the 115 4-stroke YamaMercury. To the best of my recollection we had little if no problem w/these engines. The V6 Optimax however resulted in a class action lawsuit which Mercury settled with the unhappy buyers...

    76 merc 65h

They switched in 72. First year all the Mercs got the blue stripes instead of the red. Also that 3cyl 65 hp has a smaller gearcase than the 71 did. It's basically the same size as the 50 hp. As far as swinging that 22 pitch without knowing what's on there now it's anybody's guess. My gut say's...

    76 merc 65h

A little more info....What's it propped with? Those 3 cylinder 65hp Mercs weren't the strongest motors so you'll have to really work hard on your set-up to wring every last ounce of power from that engine.

ethanol in fuel gonna be a problem for storage

Here's what I've done to my boats for the last 25 years. ( and I've had to adapt as the technology got better and the gas got poorer...) Fog all carb two strokes thru the carbs while they're running, get them smokin' good and shut them off. Run them at them same time on gas treated w/ " Sea...

Proper Starting - I didn't think I was an idiot, but I just may be!

Not to be a butthead but how are you choking it? I've been at the ramp more times than I can remember and I hear a " clicking " sound as the operator tries to choke his motor. Instead of holding the switch in and cranking it they push/pull it like they think it's a primer moving the carb...

    1989 Johnson 200 HP Questions

Stop! Don't start butchering a bunch of perfectly good engines to try to "cobble" together something won't last and nobody else will EVER want even if lasts more than a year or two. What are you thinking? The 91 OMC's are a 60 degree block and they ( READ THIS ALL YOU GEARHEADS!!) will NOT...

    89 Mercury Bridgeport 240hp

Great motors but they need to build the rpms to make power. They were and are race motors. You can use them on your application if you can get your hull to let that motor let it make it's horsepower. Otherwise it will just be trying to "break out" of it's shell. They are a somewhat troublefree...
