Sclemons asked about the differences in the model years of the 25 Convincor line. I thought I would start a thread with my very small amount of knowledge and the help of old Powerboat articles. Maybe Mr Kip, Haftoo, or othe forum members can fill in the blanks.
Checkmate introduced the 25 Convincor OB in approx. 1983 and the following year the 251' Convincor IO debuted. The 251' was listed as 25' 1", 90" beam, 23.5' deadrise, 3,700 lb weight and rigged for a TRS drive and transmission. In the following years the hull was tweaked: the chines were widened and turned down 6 degrees and the keel pad went from 12' to 16' deadrise to soften the ride.
The 251 GTX appeared around the 1989 model year. While the hull was pretty much the same as the 251', the GTX offered several new styling changes. The deck and dash were totally redesigned. The windshield rake modified. The 251 teak interior accents were replaced w- lexan and formica. Cockpit space was also improved w- the new deck and changing engine packages from the TRS to the Bravo drive. Checkmate also offered the 251GTX again in the late 90s as the 251 Classic.
In approx. 1993 the 253 Convincor replaced the GTX. This model is listed as 25' 3", 3,750 lbs, 99" beam, and 24' deadrise. I beleive the main changes were the extra 9" of beam and widening the outboard strakes to allieviate the 251 chine walking (?). The 253 also sported a new deck and dash. The cabin door was widened and now slid into the bulkhead.
The 259 Convincor appeared around 1999/2000 model year. It is listed as 25' 9", 103" beam, 4,000 lbs, and 24' deadrise. The main changes were the extra 4" of beam and a new dash. I am not sure if any changes were made to the bottom.
The 259 changed to the 270 Convincor in the 2000s when manufactures started to include swim platforms in the LOA. Checkmate also offered a 270BR.
Please add any other information on the 25 Convincor line (or correct my information).
