1978 Convincer restoration

I will install the drive unit and get some photos of that Monday. SLOWLY getting closer to running it. I will figure out how to post a video with sound on here.

The suspence is killing us --- we can't wait to see this complete and cruis'in

Thanks Kurtster, No one is more excited than me to see this thing running.

I got some of the interior pieces today from the shop, here is a close up photo of the side bolster.

I should get more of the interior in 2 weeks.

Well we have now finished the install on the engine.

The exhaust system and thru hull tips are installed as well. I am not sure I like where the tips exit on the boat, I would have rathered they come out a little higher. The steering system was in the way on the starboard side so this is the only place they could exit.

The outdrive has been rebuilt and painted. I even found some old decals for the drive unit at Marine Parts Express 877-621-2628 and installed them. Now it looks like new as well.

The new Livorsi shifter and cables are now installed.

Now I am waiting on a $25.00 trim hose and then we can start it!!
Hopefully there wont be a lot of bugs to work out on the various systems and I can get it out on the water next weekend.

FINALLY got the boat running today, we adjusted the forward/ neutral/ reverse shifting, worked out all the hydralics and power steering and set the idle speed. This engine sounds pretty strong, No pictures yet. I will post a video on here next week. Next on the list is the carpet and interior.

Your in the home stretch my friend -- keep on keepin on....:bounce:

I am trying to figure out which prop to use. I have contacted B Blades in hopes they can help with a good starting point, they were not available today so I left a message for them. I think I will use a mirage plus and start with either 23" or 25" pitch. I am not looking for one that has a bow or stern lifting charicteristic, I think the boat will ride fine without that. I am sure somebody on here has a lot more knowledge in this area than me, let me know what you think about this prop or if you have a different one in mind....

Looks great, I think thats a good place for the tips to come out, they will be under water at the dock and in the no wake zones. Will give your ears a bit of a rest.

last I heard he has had it on the water but is having some fuel and carb issues. hoping to hear some good news soon!

I took the boat out earlier this past week and had some problems with the choke not opening up all the way, and the engine would load up and die. I went in and removed the entire choke assembly and took the boat out again on Thursday, the boat still starts easily and now it does not load up and turn the transom black. I ran the boat up to about 65 mph @ around 4000 RPM, that was as fast as I wanted to take it with no interior in it and just sitting on the wooden seat bases!! There is A LOT more throttle left in it though, once I get the bucket seats in it I will be testing it again.
I live on the lake and If the wind doesnt blow like crazy here (like it has the last 3 days ! ) I plan to take the boat out tomorrow evening again and get a video of it idling and a drive by also........

A friend of mine stopped out tonight and we videoed the boat idling and driving by the dock. He said tomorrow he would upload it to You Tube and put a link on here to the video.
I am glad to finally be sitting in the drivers seat holding the steering wheel instead of a piece of sand paper or a buffer!!

Glad to see her on the water :thumb: . Cant wait till mine is back together and on the water ........
