1987 STARFIRE

Did some more sanding this weekend. It came out pretty good and I need to roll it outside on a sunny day to see what it really looks like.

when i am with you we have to stop by the shop where you bought the stuff to wax and buff. i have to do some to my senator too. and my feeling is that they sell not the right stuff overhere if i see the results of you guy's in so many threads.

All of the products I used come from my local paint supier that supplies our shop. If there is anything you want to use I can order from them and ship it to you. Everything except the heavy cut compound is made by 3m. The heavy cut is old Chrysler compound left from the last building owner.

and the 3m stuff is not availble overhere for consumers. only professional market.

if you have the pricelist, i pay you for it when i'm overthere. than you order it and send it afterwards to me.

I will get the pricing and let you know. Some of my suppliers run specials so I will watch for a sale between now and July and try to save you a few $$$$.

Not much. :poke:I'm just learning that you really CAN'T polish a turd.

I hear ya Dave. I've heard guys on the forums say that many times it's just not worth it. Financially or time wise compared to buying a solid runner. Sometimes you don't know until you tear into it. Does it need more work than you care to deal with?

Still not a lot of progress just been busy digging out rot. Floor, stringers and flotation boxes are out. There was a little wet core down the center. There was definitely a design flaw between the size of the flotation boxes and swim platform used. the lower bolts were not accessible from the inside so the solution was to use steel lag bolts.:brickwall: Definitely some excess rot due to that poor idea. On the brighter side I received a shipment today that I don't need as of yet but I have been slowly hunting down the parts that I need. Thanks to KURSTER I received a pair of exhaust tips today. Thanks Kurt I will send payment out shortly.

No real progress. I see the starfire everyday at work and wish I had the money to finish but some priorities at home took away my fiberglass money. I got a sea ray last week from a guy I know he said it was wasted and only good for parts. I put an engine coupler in yesterday and water tested today and its car from scrap. Needs a floor and a different prop and it'll be a nice little boat. Not sure if I'm going to keep it or sell it.

I'd like to finish it one of these days. It sucks seeing it everyday covered in dust and not being able to get it done.
