24 Super: winter update

I kept my old transom light for now... I figure I only really run it while
underway, so no reason to mess with leds there.

Everything is 2nm visible and legal.. should look good at night with dash
lights.

lol nothin wrong with being in the 5 percentile! the led lights are the way to go.....love your superboat man and the old truck

Looking good Nick, I like the idea of the LED light so it won't kill the battery, think I need one of those!

I actually found an LED anchor light last year floating in Cumberland!! I plugged it in and it fired right up. Free stuff rules!!!

Looking good Nick :D

Having drove his ol' dodge, it's a great running truck. We went out to MO to pick up my Caddy. Black sooting the broad that was riding in my blind spot was great. Wasn't my fault she was right at the exhaust and her window was down ;) After driving it has made me consider having a cummings swap done in my ol' gas tow pig. Just wonder how loud it would be spinning 4.10 gears @ 75mph

Shouldn't be any louder than my 8100 (496 MAG basically) with 4.10 gears and a 4" flowmaster and 5" tip at those speeds...hehe! Just wait till I slide the HO cam that is on my shelf in her.

Brian, That is where the 4000 rpm spring kit comes in! They sound knarly at that rpm's!!!! We just got done building one over the winter. 600 hp out of a mostly stock 12 valve that started to de-fuel at 3800 rpm. Too bad you didnt consider that earlier, he just sold that motor after the ole dodge it was in fell apart!

NICK- That boat looks awesome and I can't wait to see it at Cumberland!

You're not trying to blow up your reliable 496 now, are you Ron??

My truck orginally had 4.10s.. I swapped axles out the orginal with another
Dana 80 that had 3.54s to improve mpg and make use of the torque. It'd
be fine with 4.10s thou. It does sound busy at 75 with 4.10s. My truck will
spin just shy of 4k running my tst pm3 box. Most the time, I leave it off
though.

Also old Dodges don't die.. they just return to the earth.

My 96 is slowly turning to dust but the simplicity of that 12 valve is such a beautiful thing that I don't know if I would part with it even if I could afford to.

Great looking boat/truck by the way.

These old trucks are great if you can keep them from turning to sand. Everything is prone to rust.. always figured it was this older stuff, but I see it on newer car/trucks too- all brands. I hate salt, it sucks.

I am going to paint the frame with chassis saver paint and touch up my undercoating again when it warms up some more. I scraped off loose undercoat and touched it up 5 years ago.. bout time to do it again in a few spots... seems like it dries out after a while and starts to flake off a bit. Not a big deal, but better take care of it now I figure.

I did the front portion of the frame and both the axles on mine a couple years ago with POR15. Personally, I'm not too impressed by it. I expected rust to return on parts like the axles where I could only get so much of the scale off but I brought the front swaybar to work and blasted it clean and its rusting again. Gonna get under there again this summer with plain old Rustoleum gloss black and do it again.

Did you ever try chembond primer it's a Sherwin Williams product we use it quite a bit on steel restoration it burns it's way through rust chemically to bond to steel we have had really good luck with it but it is nasty stuff
