71 mx-15 restoration and build

Been busy with work but slowly working on the boat. Got the motor hooked up and all set. Got carb rebuild kits. Still need to do that. Did a compression test 150 147 146 149 not to bad on the old girl. Got most of my wiring got done so i think I'm looking good. Thinking of getting it on the lake this weekend to test everything to see if its working smoothly and if I like it be for paint. The steering cable was a pan didn't think it would make it out of a hole in the splash well into the motor since it's up. 2.5" on the transom. This is what I came up with it ok.I'm not totally happy with it but it works.

All the little things add up to alot of time or I'm just going slow and trying to be neat. All the wiring is done other then the gauges to get and a radio. Trim tabs are on. All the cleats are on and backed with a 1/2" plywood pad. Carbs and trim pump motor are rebuilt. What do you use for the for fluid ATF ? Gas line run even got clever and put the hand pump hidden in the driver cockpit so I can pump it from the driver seat lol lazy I know! Hopping to get it wet this weekend for some testing and see how every thing works. Waiting on water pump and sill need to change the out drive oil any suggestion on the oil I should use?

Im I cant wait to see how mine will do when I get the motor done up . My Trimate II with the 150 hp inline Merc with a 21p Prop will do 56. The motor isnt raised up 2.5 in either just sitting on the transom. I wonder how much faster my Vmate will be with the same power since it is quite a bit lighter .

What did the lake Authority think of her:sssh:
Glad to see you got her wet. I'm sure thats motivation to keep on going with the work.

Lol don't know they weren't there! It's always a fun time going to that ramp it's town property that the lake authority rents from the town. It's not the main ramp but no one ever uses it so I go to that one. I know this cuz my dad works for the town publick works or highway however you want to say it lol. So I got an in. I was going to say that 10 is a 13 just don't look close!

Ya I bet it will go! I had my tool box in the bow witch is about 60lb so that probably didn't help top speed. But I wood be happy with a solid 55! But I didn't have my back seat in or really anything. Just couldn't wait needed to run it lol.

Hi guys I'm back well kind. The summer started of crazy at work. Then I blew my back out at work. I have a really bad herniated disk that pinching my sciatic nerve. When it first happened I could only stand for about 20-30 till my right leg felt like a bus ran it over. Now I'm at like 2 hours if I'm lucky! Had 2 shots in the spine and didn't do anything so I'm probably looking at surgery. This has been going on for about 20 weeks now. But on a good note I ordered all the stuff to do the gel coat tonight so that brings my spirits up. :) Before all this started with my back I got the boat all tore down, top deck off and bottom flipped. ( that was fun!!!) used a chemical stripper to get the bottom paint off then preacher washed it off. That's where I left the boat.
