71 mx-15 restoration and build

I will put up more pictures tomorrow it was getting late just wanted to go home. All most done with the bace. Just got to do the back pice of the bace.

youwont56 needs to start his own restoration shop on the side
or get a job with Checkmate. Keep up the good work.
Realy enjoyed all the resto pics. Also learned some things too.
Thank you.

Your progress is looking great. I love your curved back seat. Reminds me of the 1970's T-birds. Here is a pic of my original speedo. I know these things are not very accurate but it has that classic vibe that just has to stay in my MX. I think we are going to have to take a boat of the month shot of our two boats side by side when we're finished making them purrrrrty.:bigthumb:

Thanks ya I thought it would be nice only going to suck to move it to get to the battery but I think I got that worked out. Thinking about putting the gas tank up front I know il loos some mph's but that's ok. I've made 2 seats kinda like this before for one of my friends to go on his pontoon boat. But he never treated the wood with anything like I said to. The seats are starting to go to **** 2.5 years latter. Ya that would be sweet to meet up and go out together. I'm happy to see that they even do cmate runs here in ct hope I can make some.

Dose any one know if indoor outdoor carpet from Home Depot would work for a boat. And I would also like to paint everything be for I carpet it dose anyone know of a good paint.

I would say no to home depot. Rubber back carpets trap moisture underneath them. Olifin carpets will not, but unless you bind the edges they will shed. I'm looking at NuWave bac carpets. It appears that several different manufactures are using this backing now. Here is one.

Didn't get as much done today as I would of liked. Got the front seat bases done and put one cote of epoxy on them as well as the back seat bace. And some more glass on the back seat.

I think this us a cool picture.

I bought my carpet from boatcarpet.com . They have alot of different styles . I used the 20oz in mine . I looked at it this way I really wont have alot of time to use my boat because of the crazy hours I work so it wont have as much traffic on the carpet . The carpet in my trimate has been in it since it was built in 1976 and its still in really good shape. When I replaced the floor I pulled the carpet up in one piece and was able to lay it back down . Now with the Vmate the carpet is just laying in the boat I didnt glue it down . Ive trailered it over a hour between 70-75 mph and it stayed in place. But either way you go with this im sure it will look great . You have done a fantastic job so far . Cant wait to see the finished product :thumb:

What are your guys thoughts about seat swivels yes or no I could go ether way just thought I would get your guys input

I went with Corinthian Carpet in the Enticer. I figured if it was good enough for Wildman it was good enough for me. I looked at Home Depot carpet and I almost went that route but there is no comparison as to which one is better. Go with marine carpet if the wallet allows it. It was about $200 shipped.

Swivels it is worked on that tonight For the front seat not sure if this how is done but works for me. I don't plan on glassing the front seat boxes to the hull. I want to be able to take them out easily to dry the seats and the boxes. so I glued these blocks to the floor and then ill screw the seat boxes to them.
