C-Hawk Checkmate POKER RUN

Come hang out on the Mississippi near the Quad Cities, (IOWA, ILLINOIS)

We have several that hang out in this area. Could be a blast.

Jason

....

somthin at the sandbar>? As long as your around the bay you could take a 12ft mate there. Nice State park ramp right behind johnsons island too! dempsys(spl?) acess i think. Ill be a vineation next year i think so im right in the middle of anything you guys come up with at that end of the lake

I would love to attend a run with my mate in 2010. 2 things tho, 1~I don't want to kill my boat with big water. 2~entry fee.

Last yr was more of a boater friendly Fun "Run what you brung" Run.No need to run your or any boat harder than you want. There are several restruants/bars and sandbars inside the bay for stops. And Kellys Island is no longer a little sleepy port, its as fun and wild as put-in-bay which is more than twice as far out into the lake.Under most water condtions 20ftrs can make it out to Kelly's if your willing to take your time.

I just stayed on my boat at the marina for cheap sleeps(showers was availabe)

This yr should be a more organized with the more time to plan. Hope to see you there!

Yea pending work, I will be there:cheers:

On most days, the bay (Sandusky) is no prob for the smaller boats(like us). Maybe something there might be possible. There are are few good stops there including the sandbar and a couple of spots up-river. As long as everyone follows into the mouth of the river and the water's not too low, even the larger ones can make it pretty easy. The only issue is there are no real spots to stay besides Lyman area or a few select campgrounds right on the bay and/or river, but I could check around for a host site. Just a thought. I have been VERY unlucky w/ scheduling the last few years, but who knows? I would still be willing to do some local leg-work to help out. The entire area is just so great for boating, I'd hate to see some of the people not from around here miss an opportunity to enjoy it.

I am biased, but..

I say the fun run needs a place with big flat water so all can enjoy
and thus I suggest Lake Cumberland! The travel distance seems
central enough that the Michigan, Ohio, KY and even the NC and SC
boys could all get together for one of the biggest gatherings of 'mates
to date and Cumberland can accommadate!

Even Big Red might be down for that, huh Red? I bet Barry could twist
your arm and talk you into such a gig, I know I'm in, but I'll likely be there
anyway:thumb:! I head down to Cumberland every chance I get - love it!
(whoops, red don't have a mate, but I bet he'd be welcome with the Carver!)

cumberland would make a great place to have it. we already have a large number of checkmates here, both cm members and non members. i agree with dog school that cumberland is a more central location , so we would probably have a big turn out. as for big red, he is always welcome to ride with me if he doesn't want to bring his boat. big red needs to twist sct's arm and get him to go. if i can do anything to help make it happen i will, just let me know.

...

my poor van would die on that drive im sure...shes already over loading going from my house to the bay thats why i rack store.....id say its time for a new tow vehicle but i only have 750$ into it....maybe next time ill spend a grand haha:banana:

$750! LOL Nice! I used to only drive them cheapies! I Now have my first auto payment ever. It cheap enough tho, I cant imagine having a big $400, $500 or even bigger payment per month

If its at Cumberland, I will 100% be there. Good water that you cant go wrong with. Plus it is close enough to get a wide range of people from all over.

....///

Ov got a 470$ on a new jeep the old lady had to have. Now that shes on her way out so will that over priced turd!

What do the factory guys think about going that far? I know they are hard core and want to do what they can to keep it where it all comes from. But hey, I'm just another guy who's looking for a get-together to hang out if I get the chance. If you haven't been to the factory, you SHOULD check it out. Those people are awesome!!! I got to meet some of them and they were GREAT! They really care about their craft and do a great job. I'm not tryin' to be a homer, but I just think it's a little respect for the people that make it happen.:bounce: Can't we work together to make this a truly "Checkmate Thing." If it weren't for those people, we would'nt even have a boat to talk about. JUST SAYING. Sorry to everybody else for being "old-school", but I just think they deserve our respect and admiration for making us all water-worthy!

if checkmate wants to keep everything where it is, nothing says we can't get a gathering at cumberland on our own. i am not trying to step on thier toes or take away anything from them.i am confident that we can get a large group together at cumberland just to hang out.:thumb:

That's a nice way of thinking, but fact is they have been trying to do
something at Erie since '06 and on average they have had 12 to 15
boats show up. That location just isn't getting it done, right, wrong
or indifferent! Cumberland makes sense but that's just a suggestion.
I am not sure how many times you have attended but I have been there
3 years running, so they that can say that or similar have shown their
loyalty and appreciation. Now let's just try to find a location that'd
allow a greater turn out. Flat water will bring the smaller 'mates out and
consistently better boating conditions in general will bring out more of
the big boats as well, in my opinion. I am open to whatever works, for
whatever that is worth.

I know that 3 to 5 of us will be rafted off and sippin' suds on good ol'
Lake Cumberland in just a few months from now, huh lcboater!
We know where that goodtime boating is, let's just hope they follow the
lead, but regardless we will be there on many ocassions!:thumb:
(yours truly, lcboater, drewman, doublechecker, and I bet we see yf88)
See you soon Barry!

Outside of the C/M run. Why not have regional get togethers Northeast Midatlantic Southeast so-on so-on. It would make for good times and alot more to write up and talk about. A designated photograger (not me I suck) would be a blessing at all events. Anything bringing the players together is a good thing!!:thumb:

like dogschool said,it is not unusual to see all of us together.i know of several other cm people who come to cumberland. i can probably get 10 cm together anytime,so i am sure of a good turn out if we put the word out. i think they only had about 10 boats for an organized event. and dogschool we can't wait to pop a top. i have been working on my boat so i can be ready when the weather breaks.
