Checkmate 50th Anniversary Edition

A FULL metalflake 21BR with a clean looking fiberglass/balsa latchable bow cover for the days you wanna be super cool in a LD would get me to buy a new boat.

Totally agree on the hard bow cover. It would weigh more then a fabric bow cover, but the enhanced aerodynamics would more than offset the weight for the top end. Also, it would look cool and be a very "progressive" design. Combine that with a classic hull, flake, inner liner and hard top convertible for the bow...now that would be hard to ignore. Also, it's gotta be a 100 mph boat.

They will be getting ready next yr! Checkmate was established in 1963 (according to my favorite checkmate T-shirt).
Once again I believe besides having a special model, Checkmate should restore a classic, film it and replay it at nausiam on the speed channel.

Take my boat instance, it would make a perfect candidate for such a project, classic starflite lines, aggressive merc colors, long history with owner! Its a perfect fit, just let me know and I'll make arrangements.

Nerd! HeHeHe, I get it I'mmm ooold. But the world needs Drawfs too!:thumb:

i think a starflite would be great to see all done up with the best of everything :bounce: give the people what they want!!!!!! STARFLITE:drool:

Since Checkmate is celebrating its "Golden" anniverary I think it would be cool for Checkmate to come up with a limited "Golden anniverary editon" Available on selected models with the classic Checkmate lines. In my vision each would have a Gold 50th anniversary logo with Gold accent striping (possibly metal flake) On black Hulls. "Poker run" interiors (bare bones) And put the money in the rigging (hyd, steerig etc). Some gold accents on the dash. If done right it could be a huge hit.

I know Checkmate is known for GREAT Gel work but it may not be a bad idea to send a few out to Mitcher T to get some one off painted boats to celebrate as well.

Peace,

Rob

It wouldn't take that much work to build a new Starflite mold by splashing an old Starflite. The Pulsare 2400 was built off of an older 24' Checkmate mold.:sssh: Now, if they don't want to go as far as building a new set of molds for a Starflite.....how bout doing some R&D and putting a real ventilated step into the Pulsare 2100 hull mold?? Can you say "100MPH"?????:banana:

There you go Coop, a new project for you to get involved with.

By the way, how did you make out with the cooler lids for the Starflite/ Starliner model?

The cooler lids, its slow going working like I do. BUT I did just put the second layer of glass on the molds, so I am making progress. I won't be back home until the begining of June so.....

I have been videoing the process, when its done, I'll post the fun up to my youtube channel.
