Checkmate Weekend Chesapeake Bash 2012

im thinking about it just wont know for certain whats up at work, but possibly . i know what the poker runs look like in that area and it becomes impossible to find dock space if there is a run going to a specific venue, the good news is the course will be laid out and hopefully posted.

I've seen this before. The boats only hang at the poker spots for a hour or two then move on. They will stay at the start or stop point for the longest time. Your correct about once they post the run and schedule we can plan around that. Might be a good addtion to us, as far as, we can ride out and watch them fly by and check out the boats. They won't have any impact on the island and us hanging out there.

Thanks for the heads up!

I live on Kent Island, if anyone is planning to tow down and dont or cant leave your boat at the hotel, you are welcome to leave it in my driveway overnight. There are multiple NICE ramps all over the island that you can get a day pass for. Its a short run to Dobbins...

Thanks - Spencer

Question for anyone attending. My wife and I may be interested in attending but we're going to have a logistical issue requiring support. We travel in our 38' motorhome because we like it and we have 2 dogs that are not manageable if left at our home. Normally we tow our Jeep Wrangler behind the motorhome, pulling both the Jeep and the Senator would no doubt get the eye of law enforcement and purhaps create problems.

We would stay in the area a week so renting a car would be easy but would need some assistance in launching the boat at a ramp. I'm not sure it would be wise to launch it with the motorhome. It's a rear engine 8.3 Cummings diesel so it would have the torque but I envision seeing my bus in the Magothy.

If we decide to attend could someone launch our boat with your tow vehicle?

I'm in without a doubt and looking forward to it:cheers:
Can't wait to see the pink Checkmate and take a vintage jet boat ride:surf:

JCS- I will be on the other side of the Chesapeake in Kent Narrows, or I would say I'll do it. I don't blame you for not wanting to use your motor home. That much weight and rear wheel drive, plus a little slime on the ramp and you'll be in big trouble. I'm sure someone here can/will help you out.

BOO Yah!!! Can I bring the inflatable love goat? Don't Judge Me!!!
WOW, for a minute I thought Hudy was in trouble till I re read the "inflatable" part!!

I think you'll be ok,
Those other guys that like goats won't come this way so it will be all yours.:thumb:
Yea, we got "virgin free range" goats down by Corey331....... however I think the "virgin" part is long gone between Corey and JJG ;)

tho.......

As for the event, I made a promise last fall to JJG and horseplay1 that I would run the june poker run at cumberland if I bought a big boat. I had forgotten till Jeff brought up seat time in the 283 before the run. It sucks that it is the same weekend ( http://cumberlandpokerrun.com/ ).
I was really looking forward to meeting a lot of you guys who I joke with on a daily basis( Keith, Bob, Spencer, etc). If either event was 1 week off then I would be up your guys way. Sorry guys :o. I might be able to do another weekend before the end of the year or I will be there next year if you do another one.

Good luck guys and be safe :bigthumb:
