52 mph and scared

I had raced my 79 trimate with a johnson 140 v4 against a fishing boat with a johnson 150 gt v6. I was faster the first 50 yards or so, but the 150 had me by half a boat length at about 100 yards. The water was choppy and I had a ton of stuff in the bow, not including a full tank of gas.

well my mate might do about 2 or 3 mph if I run past it depending on how energetic I am at the time. It should go faster when I get the lower unit.:rof:

trv 16 barge

my 74 trv 16 has done it's best at 51 mph gps with a 140 looper, currently i have 4" of setback 3" below the keel (no pad) and a 85 115 merc tower, 24" laser prop,a dog @47 mph, i am going to add a pad to this barge

Not fast enough, took some friends out sunday and scared the poop out of them, i got 66.5 with 4 people in the boat, not bad. Best was 70+ with just me.

Pulsare 1850BR, Mercury Optimax 175, 5.5 jackplate, 4.5 below pad, timmed out in smooth water, 66.7mph (GPS);

1984 enticer, 85' evinrude V4 140HP

i actually found that my lie-o-meter is accurate up to sixty.. how do i know only sixty cause thats as fast as i can go.

had a scare today.

was out. st clair river again.. wot. the motor bogged and as i looked back i hit a set of rollers and almost sideflipped/backflipped the boat.. the driver rear corner hit and then the nose went under( aka a stuff) even though it was a minor one.. and wwater went flyin over the nose. i had about 1/4 boat full of water. lets just say i was bilging for awhile

thats beyond a scare,
i think id have a load in my pants

you cant be too careful at these speeds
I had a bit of a scare 2 weeks ago
I was flyin back towards bemus point on chuatauqa lake
and I looked back just for a second, when i turned back
i found that i was headed straight for a windsurfer in the middle of the lake
it wasnt that close but close enough to make ya think.

safe boating!

yeah.. i wasnt quite to that point.. but it definatly woke me up.. just when you think your comfortable wiht something.. and have it down pat. the min you loose respect for it it bites you in the ass.. lets just say im very lucky..

but that feeling when your just barely touching the water. sort of in a floating limbo.. its extacy.. its addicting and thats what im in this for..

people say boating is stupid and pointless. they just havent experienced what boating is truely about.

I can proudly say after today, replaced the stringer and floor... put the two buckets seats and a half a tank of fuel... 49 mph on the GPS with a 14x19 aluminum prop and 33 year old Ford 302 that has never had more then the starboard side head replaced. Been waiting two years to get this damn thing back on the water... Next work is re-doing the metal flake. Anyone want to help...Brown with Gold?
