Great photo! Looks CLEAN. Be an even better pic if you had a GPS stuck to the dash showing the digital number of your speed. I remember my Pulsare speedo was buried past 85 mph while my GPS read 74.....:p

And my wife gives me the stink-eye when I get up around 45 mph! :rof:

Had my 1998 242 sport with hp500 and bravo I with 26 pitch, in lite ripples on the water at 70.1mph on gps at 5000rpm with the drive out at 2, and a full tank of fuel and the wife

Pulse 186 1996
Merc 2.5 Liter 280 hp
Sportmaster lower unit.
Lightning ET 24 inch prop, lab-finished.
CMC jack plate 10 inches set back, prop centerline 1/2 inch below pad.
Hot Foot throttle, steering wheel placed trim and jack plate switches.
Bow rider canvas cover on, (good for 3 MPH) .

89.5 MPH GPS @ 7800 rpm in perfect cool light load conditions. 86 under normal conditions with passengers.
No chine walking, runs straight as an arrow but still too much positive trim is needed to go over 87 so more prop experimentation is needed or more set back. I'll try props first, any suggestions?

O.K. 79 ENCHANTER/87 3.6GT 275HP, BEING FRESH'ND NOW WILL GET NEW PROP FROM,BOATMAN SOON. :yell: HOPE TO HAVE A BAD CASE OF[ PREMAGRIN] THIS HAPPENS AT AROUND 100 MPH.LOL LATER BRAD

Update for this year. I've changed my blower pulley, which is sopposed to add 1.5-2lbs more boost. I haven't checked it yet. I only gained about 1 mph. Speedo says 73mph and gps just barley hits 70. My gps does not store the highest speed so that kinda sucks. It still amazes me that when talking to people on the beaches and docks, and asking them about their boats and how fast they are. People say 75mph or push'n 80. And then we race, and I beet them......I guess it is truly amazing how much a GPS really weighs!

I've got a 350 mag in my maxxum 223 and I just can't get past 52mph!! what the hell? any suggestions would be fanastic! other than spending another boat load of cash for a blower...

fletch, Tell us your rpm numbers and prop size and pitch. What year is the boat and engine. What outdrive do you have?

89 Starflite with a 3.0L 225 and a 23 Trophy plus, hit 64 at the limiter. I also ran a 23 TRO4 at the limiter 64.3. I am thinking about getting a 25 trophy plus to get my RPM's down, but I do alot of skiing behind the boat and I think that might be a dog coming out of the hole with a skier in tow.

88 diplomat i/o , 75-76 gps

(handheld gps, was too busy driving to get careful read, be conservative and call it 75 for now)

Fresh 383, with forged internals, world products heads, edelbrock torker intake and 750 cfm carb, imco powerflows (with mufflers... for now...), alpha drive, 1.81 gears, best speed was with hydromotive quad iv 29" at ca. 5200 rpms with two people, skis, full tank of gas, toolbox, etc... and we got out of it before it stopped accellerating. After that I propped down to Mirage plus 27" for now to pull skiers, boarders, etc... and so I'm not running a solid hub prop on the river where its not unheard of to hit things once in a while... the slightly lower pitch also puts a little less strain on upper gearcase. (wishfull thinking I'm sure).

I've only got 10 hours or so on the new engine and will be playing more with props and set up in a few weeks. Thinking I can eventually get a good bit more out of it if i widen the pad and bring the propshaft up a bit. not trivial things, but fun to play with... Also considering adding 1/2 to 3/4 inch to the pad and widening it to 10 - 12 inches, perhaps adding a little to the inner most two strakes to see if I can get it all the way up on the pad at higher speeds. Right now though it has very good manners. cornered like on rails with the hydromotive, no chinewalk at high speed, just felt a little loose when trimmed out too far. have been too busy working to run it hard with the mirage yet and have a feeling that I'll find much better props for top end down the road...

btw, I love the "smarttabs" I put on it. I can hold an even plane down to aroun 12-14 mph pulling boarders and it handles rougher water A LOT better... like adding a couple feet when in 1-2+ foot "chop" out on the open river...

I took the XRi off this little Predictor and put the 115 Merc. back on, then sold it! I, for
the life of me, couldn't master the speed of it! In the high 70s it was so squirrely I could
only fly for a few seconds, never reaching full WOT! So, I did myself a favor...
It could have been the bottom wasn't straight (what I was told)

it aint always speed that counts. its comfort and feeling safe at speed. ive seen most my friends break loose around 65+, but its feeling safe and solid once you break the 70 mark. i can tell you a few pointers that every check owner needs to know.

plus or minus, during what condition

ive had gps speeds vary from plus or minus 15 mph. ive not been able to hit 69.9, but when the handheld flew out the hand, it said 79 for a split second. has anyone else had a variety of speeds, and ill tell you what my enchanter 21 does when were overdosing on adrenalin. it depends on the wind, chop, and conditition of the captain

hey thats good. when you really have a good ride, its not a ride, its a flight, and ive noticed with my tunnel that it acts like a small airplane does. ive flown lots of flights on little cesnas, and when i get that side ways , you know, going straight ahead, but boat looking like its trying to turn left, like a vehicle looks like its riding sideways down the road, well, i havnt had either one of my friends tell me what the gps said, and matter a fact, they cant say nothing once i stop. one thing they all have in common is that their cheeks are sore, and knees are shaking. tell you what people. i watch that vid of n y ronnie and it blows my mind, but im getting rides that are making me and my friends feel sick from adrenalin, and im just breaking 80

my fools, i mean friends

i cant find many folks who want to fly on my boat with me but i let 2 i dropped off at the cabin take this one, so they would know they were with me that day. gotta bait um in with that nectar:cheers

1988 Vision 221, with a 454 stock engine, 365 hp. 3 blade, SS Mirage prop, 25 pitch. Me, Gina, CeCelia and 3/4 tank of gas (30 gals). 73 mph @ 4900 rpm. Still had more to go but boat felt loose. I had a huge grin on my face. :D Speedo appears to be accurate when against the GPS. Love my checkmate. Hankster

hello illMATTic,just bought a 88 starflite 200 evinrude would like to get speed like yours.not sure what a jack plate or spacers are or what pitch prop i need.i dont know anything about outboard motor performance.i always had io's.im also new to this fourm and not sure how to use it yet but trying to figure it out...if you have time to reply it would be greatly appricated.you can reply here and ill try to find it or my email is ajc31@verizon.net or ph# is 814 504 2131.your matching boat and truck look awsome together:) thanks for your time, andrew

1980 enchanter 21

Just picked up a 21 enchanter with 225 merc and man. plate. I've had 1986 sportfire 140 johnson (58mph gps) and 1986 convincor 383 (62mph gps). what kind of mph should i get out of this combo? is the enchanter a good hull compared to the sportfire? I will be getting the boat next week.

Checking on my set up

I want to know if I have my set-up right ? I have a 6in jack plate and when it is all the way down I mounted my 200hp 2.4 in the bottom set of holes that are avaliable on the Merc mounting plate and this puts my Bob's Nose Cone about 4 - 6 in below the point of the keel and I ran a 26 pitch Cleaver and I went 52.6 mph on GPS at 8,000 rpm didn't stay in it long cause I know the 2.4 doesn't like those rrrr'sss. ( I think I need a 28 pitch and I don't think my Trimate II is getting enough lift ) :)
