I'm starting to like Jet drives

Gotta love the Jet boats, hows yours coming along Wicked??
Hey man,
if You are located in Saginaw, do you know a dude that goes by Squeek? I talked to him last week about some square side tanks he has for sale. My project is still moving along but way slow. I did get the new used trailer, looks like it's gonna work out well. I bedded in the two main stringers a few weeks back and bedded in the center stringer yesterday. I have all the trick pump parts together, split bowl, snoot, loader, new place diverter, intake housing totally rebuilt with new bearing, seals, impeller, packing gland. The last thing I need is the ride plate and shoe kit. Going to order them from HTP this month. Getting a set of round side tanks from a guy in Louisville this week, no nose tank in this project. Need to flip the boat before long and get the bottom done and painted. When we flip it back over it will go on the new trailer. This project has a long long way to go but I am hard headed as hell and on day it will all come together. May see water next season? may be the next?

Project Boat

Worked on the boat today and got one important part cut out and test fitted. Made a 1/2" plywood pattern for the front bulk head of the engine conpartment. This is key part in moving forward with this build because every damn thing is supported by or connected to it. The hull and cap, back seat, side tanks, rear hatches, engine cover and stringers all connect to this one firewall in one way or another. It's slow going because I'm not building it back the way it was. kind of doing things my way but that means no templates to use as patterns. I'M Going through a bunch of cardboard that's for sure LOL! Think I will use some heavy 3/4" ply for this one key part. Will try and get some pics posted before long showing what I've gotten done so far. :thumb:

You got a nice pump set up and I also like the Valve covers. I just wish you would go with the long tube headers out the top.

Are you talking about this boat if so its a early sixties glasspar that's before glastron bought them out.

Thanks Red!

Was talking about that "lil" icon you had posted, you know the cartoon of the Glastron GT-150. I have seen pics of that Glasspar before, it's cool as hell but I still like your old Jet mate the best :thumb:
Headers, S-Pipes, Unsure what I will bu running.

The big tubes like I ran are not as loud as they look well you can't here the noise in the boat anyway, I liked them because they are dry when at idle and around 1300-1500 the check valve releases the water and starts spraying it in the pipes to cool them down. I think I gave under 800 for them new for a 455 olds. I love those steering wheels to

Here you go

Don't even know where that steering wheel came from? I'm told it could be an old AMC wheel? Paid 10 bucks for it on E-bay but had to really do a clean up job on it. It was rough when I got it, had to wet sanded the plastic grip to get a shine back. I cut the tops off of metal valve caps to make the fake rivets in the grip and came up with the SS center cap cover idea along the way. I think it turned out cool.

New CVX20 Junk

Just picked up a pair of 8" 11 gallon round tanks and brackets but they don't really fit the hull that well. Think they can be made to work but it's gonna suck :yell: Worked on the stringers some today. Got them totally bedded in, sanded, cleaned and wetted out with epoxy. I did have time to wrap the engine bay stringers with cloth but then ran out of epoxy and had to quit :yell:

Holy Stringers!!!!

Nice work.

I absolutely love the different parts you are using on this piece.

Thanks for sharing.

CVX20 Project

Thank you Guys :thumb:

2 new gallons of that $$$ epoxy was ordered today :yell: and I just picked up this set of gas tanks  Think I can make them work but they are going to be a royal a pain in ass to install. Round tanks may not the best choice for my hull but oh well! I don't want a big heavy tank put back under the nose so it looks like the side tanks will be the best way to go

CVX20 Project

The project is still slow going but did get the stringers all attached to the hull and wrapped in cloth. Running out of good weather so it's hard to get much outside work done. The cover isn't 100% water tight and with water getting in the boat I had to rethink the drain plug situation. Has 4 drain plugs now rather than just the one. It has 2 on the inside of the stringers and 2 on the outside the stringers. Seems to me like this was the best thing to do if I want to keep water out of the boat. Even when the boat is done water is going to get in and there must be a way to let it out other that the bilge pumps. The last big prats are on the way for the jet pump. A custom ride plate, shoe and bowl cradle are on the way from Cally. Will try to update with some new pics. Thinking about a crazy idea for a bimini top. I want to make one that is super low and sleek rather than one that is all tall and ugly. Want it to look like a convertible top on a sports car rather than a normal marine bimini top. Want it to have a chop top or low rider look. I know that a top like this won't be practical at all and it will make it hard as heck to move around in the boat but I still plan to run with the idea. I have never seen one like that before and I have always liked the look of the old school hard top boats :thumb:

Low-Pro Bimini

Randy (Wildman) had a custom low-profile bimini top on his 2100 Pulsare.

Make a search for the pics, I remember it being pretty sweet (and I am not a bimini guy).

Again....NICE WORK!:thumb:
