I'm thinking of doing a real custom Checkmate this winter. I've just finished the baddest 30ft Liberator cat I could have possibly done. Now it's time for the baddest Checkmate. I'm thinking of a 30ft Convincor with twin Merc 300XS outboards. After seeing SCT's videos, I think I can do alot with it. It would have every trick option I can get. I'd order a bare hull. Other than the interior, I'd order it with not a cleat, guage, lights, wiring, etc.
Does anyone have a few pics of the interiors and cabin? I need to see what I'd be working with. SHANNON! Send some pics!
I kinda like the red/silver/black one in the middle.

twins would be wicked..

i suggested twin 200's on my 79 enchanter to cooper.. he said its possible.. but. my inner child says no. lol

good luck on the custom checkie..

Twins has already been done. Why not triples?

It may have been done, but not my way! Triples are a very hard sell. I won't even do them on a 3oft Liberator cat unless someone orders it.

I'm diggin the red, silver and black scheme on the Checkmate, plus it would match your Liberator. The yellow and blue schemes look a lot like some of the combos the factory is doing (too "present day" to me - I like the classic colors)

Great idea though, you definitely need the twins - that's something the factory would never do. Can't wait to see it... :eyecrazy:

Wildman, That sounds like it would be pretty nasty. I like how your thinking. Now would you be buying a bare hull from them and just rigging it with fancy parts and 2 motors, or is this one going into the paint booth and getting a nasty paint job too??

i think a true fire paint job - from bow to the engines - love that look. you could do some really cool stuff with that bare hull - how about black hull with huge checkmate down the side done in the true fire - that would look awesome.

Looking forward to seeing this one. How about some shots of the completed liberator.

I gotta pull the boat outside to get some pics. Here's a couple of the pimpin cabin. Not many cats got a big cabin like this. The entire cockpit has recessed and hidden red LED lights. I even took the speakers apart and put red LED's behing the tweeters.

Wman- besides custom paint and interior what are you thinking about to "pimp" a 30?

Would you go w/ a swimpad style O/B setback? With the new 30' deck not having a back seat cross member, maybe you could get rid of the hatch and have a large wrap around seating area in the back instead of a back seat.

I'm sure it will be a cool project,

Hey Randy, How about doing something that noone else has done...like a Pulsare 2400 with twins!!! :thumb:The boat would be more affordable and possibly easier to sell. There were Enforcer 24's built with twins so why not a Pulsare?? It's got great lines and from what I've heard the bottom is much like the old Enforcer so it should handle the power. I would imagine that tripple digits would be possible with 600 ponies on a bracket!!:bigthumb:Now, that would be a very cool project..something that the magazines could write about!!;)

JP- I was thinking about a dual ob 2400 before I did my 30'. (I know of a twin ob Enforcer in IL). But like KC pointed out the transom is concave on the 2400. You would have to have a custom setback made to mate up against the transom. It would be a bad boat but would be hard to sell for the money you would have in it also.

Just my thoughts,
SCT

Well, it sounds like the 30 Convincor deal is off. I got the price for a blank hull today. The 30 is actually the old 28 and they want ALOT more than I pay for the 30ft Liberator cat, and I can sell the 30 cat for alot more money. Oh well, good idea anyway.
As far as the 24 with twins. There was a guy that put two 300x's on a 27 Convincor and it handled terribly I was told. So I'm guessing the 24 with twins would suck. The 24 with a single 300xs runs great. I delivered one today.
