Picking up 2006 21ft Pulsare on Saturday

set up is everything - glad you got it figured out - now get out and enjoy this weekend - time is running out!

What were the little things they found?

That is a big improvement and it sounds like it is running with the best of them.

A few of the things slowing it down was that the throttle cables way out of adjustment, motor mounted way too low. It turns the 26 Trophy plus with no problem out of the hole and 74 MPH with a 4 blade...NICE! Now full out the boat hardly moves at all, it's like a brand new boat to me. Too bad the season is almost over. There is always next year.

Those are very minor issues. When I looked at that boat at the dealer I remember that it didn't have a water PSI Gauge. With you new motor height you should install one or or install a smartcraft system monitor.

The cable adjustment is quite normal. It should be checked every year.

74 with the 26p trophy is really good if it is on GPS. What are you reving at that speed?

It is not hitting the rev limiter, it looks to be 5600 to 5700. Yes the 74 is on GPS! I was looking for a good all around prop that runs stable, and with the 26 trophy I think I have it. With a tempest I probably would get more top end but may not be as stable. Man I love my boat...

The trophy is a great prop....... and spinning a 26 is nothing to be ashamed of. Just think Mid 70's on GPS in a bowrider... What other boat can that.

the 2100 may be the best boat Checkmate ever build. (IMO)

Thank's for the nice comment guys. I'd agree that the 2100 is the cat's ass. I do think and few years I still would like to up grade to a 250 or 300 xs.

Happy boating

I would have to agree!!! (but then again I could be a little biased)
I would love to see Checkmate take the 2100 hull, put a small step in it (like the Starflite),make the pad a little wider at the transom, square off and sharpen all the chines (I think the bevels could possibly slow the boat down), improve the construction of the stringers/bulkheads/transom by using higher quality building materials that are lighter, more durable, and not prone to water intrussion (Mantex for example) but retain the overall appearance and size of the boat. It's the pefect size boat for the guy that doesn't want to contend with the hassels of an offshore performance boat....big and tough enough to handle moderate rough stuff, small and fast enough to be considered a lake rocket, it's got that long aggressive, downward sloping bow, and it can fit in a standard 2 car garage.....at a slight angle of course!!

X1 FCAT what size vent plugs do you have in the Trophy. I'm running about the same setup and prop but haven't got the prop quite the way i would like it. I'm getting about 70.5 GPS right now but mine is a 1996 2100BR with 225 EFI. when i got the trophy it hade the large hole plugs in the prop but it wanted to cavitate on take off i'm going to try the next size down this weekend to see what that does to the hole shot.

I'm not sure what size the plugs are. I gave my boat to the my local merc dealer and he tried various set ups and props to get the performance that I had asked for. It is very good out of the hole and yet still gets decent top end. By looking at the plugs I'd say look like they are medium size. Good luck on your set up like I did for mine.

Glad to see you got it running the way you like it. Interesting that you settled on the Trophy. Nothing wrong with them but our boats love the Tempest I have both. Can't wait, getting the 250XS on the 3rd of October hope to get a few runs in before the lake gets hard.

I am hoping my props for the 225 work on te new motor. The gear ratio on the new 250Xs I bought is 1.62 so they may work. I hope see mid 80's will let you know. If not you mike like to try my Boger 25 Tempest.
Hey X1fcat I fired the Fcat up on the weekend getting the sledhead season bug.

JUP,
Are you back on the water?

Hey SCT, long time no talk to!! Yes, I splashed the Pulsare last sunday evening and boated from 6:00 to 11:00PM!!! It was pretty cool running around with the lights on and having dinner by water!! The boat looks great. I'll be shooting some Pics on Sunday. In the center of the dash I installed a Livorsi water pressure, temp, and voltmeter. They are black faced with chrome rings mounted on top of Eddie Marine RED andodized angled bezels. Very Cool. I just need to save the money for the matching Tach, GPS Speedo, trim and gas gages. Boat feels livlier without the foam below the floor and you can actually hear the water chattering off the bottom! I've got a guy driving down from Texas on Saturday to buy my Talon. It was fun to play with over the summer and fast.....but not a Pulsare!!!!

Sure was nice to finally get the boat running the way it should. I went with the trophy because I do a lot of skiing. I sure would like to try your 25 next season.

I think in a few years I'll upgrade to the XS model. I had no choice the boat was already rigged with the standard opti. (remember bought 2006 used). Hunter's Bay marine up here really knows their Merc stuff. I think next year I'll get them to tweak my stock 225 a bit to get more out then try your Boger 25 tempest. If it doesn't work with your XS maybe you can sell it to me.

Next Tuesday I'm storing my boat (4 degrees tonight) and yes looking forward to getting the 757 out of hock...I mean Carlson Sports (summer storage). Now I can look forward to boating season and sled season. Now only to find somthing useful to do during freeze up and break up?

Your boat looks good in the avitar!!!
