I got mine painted and next on the list is fixing the rest of the core, floor, motor mounts, and my flotation boxes.

Wana make a trip up to cincy and help me? I will buy the food and drinks;)!!!
 
I'd go back in with the horizontal piece, and I'd add one more down lower to 'box' in the back end. Don't stop at knee braces.
Take a gander at Scream and Fly when Greg had his V-King transom area rebuilt to see a great example of a properly boxed-in transom area.

JW I looked at Greg's boat last night, I might be able to do something similar. What I'm trying to prevent is water from collecting on the horizontal piece coming in from the cable opening in the splashwell. That piece was really rotten because water just sat there until it evaporated.

Yellow I loved to help you and Hick, but Cincy to cold for a southern guy like myself. I wish I had the talent to paint like you, that's an awesome job on your boat. My wife says I create things around the house to build or fix.:D Btw I'm following your's and Hick's Resto. Great job guys!!!!
 
The first set of knee braces are epoxied in place and then one layer of mat and glass. I kinda screwed up the left one at the edge facing us. I'll trim the extra mat since I'm adding a layer of 1 1/2 ounce mat for the second layer. I also got the stringers around the gas tank cut and fitted, those will go in next. Here are some pictures.

Thanks!!! I've got a hardwood floor project in the house waiting for me after I'm done with this. So I'm hitting this pretty hard and trying to beat the cold weather since this is being done under a carport not a garage.

I have a newfound respect for the guys that lay fiberglass and mat for a living, it's brutal on knees and back. Anyway I continued the slow process of glassing those knees in place to the transom and hull, hopefully tomorrow I can get the stringers that go around the gas tank epoxied in place. Next up I'll cut the forward stringers and bulkhead and get those fitted.
 
It is a fun job isn't it. Our job is a little easier we don't have the deck on the hull. Now all of our stringers are 1-1/2" thick and the knees are connected to the motorwell with another 1-1/8 plywood called a thorp. They put putty on top of that board when they put the deck on the hull. Good job on your rebuild.

Thanks!!! LOL it's not bad, but if I ever did this again hopefully it would be easier. I had a butt load of that putty right under the spashwell that stuff is messy. My knees are 1 1/2" thick, but my stringers will be 3/4" thick hopefully that will be ok.
 
Our boats are a little easier we don't have a splashwell. The motorwells are flat with transom except for the 1600. That putty is messy. 3/4 is what some of the boats used to be but now all stringers are 1-1/2.
 
I got the stringers around the gas tank epoxied in tonight and tied into the knees, also made sure the gas tank would fit between them. I'll glass those in tomorrow or over the weekend. I started cutting the forward stringers and screwed ,didn't realize they had to follow the contour of the boat. :shakehead::o So I cut new ones and got one side fitted. I hope to have those in place and epoxied over the weekend. Here are some pictures of my tedious process of putting the floor back together.

Tonight I got my forward stringers cut and epoxied in place. Those were a pain in the a$$ to fit properly. I spent more time trimming the bottom so they would fit the contour of the boat, than actually installing them. Next up I'll glass all the stringers in place, then cut the floor and get that fitted to the boat. This is the most time consuming project I've done to date. Here are a few pictures of my slow progress.

You're doing a great job of it......not going slower than mine, that's for sure. BTW, My Enforcer tank is a little larger and of the aluminum variety. I believe my capacity is close to 60gal....not sure.

Are you able to install the knee braces first and then the stringers? I think it would be much easier. Looking back I would've caught heck trying to install stringers first then the knee braces. Do you have picture looking straight at the transom from the inside?
 
none since I put the new transom in. I'll snap a few when I get home and post in my "butt lift" thread. You can let me know what you think.
 
Robbie, you going to bore the drain holes after you get that box all built and fiberglassed? I've never replaced stringers before, but looking at the pix I'm thinking it would be easier to cut out the water drain holes before you install the horizontal pieces?

I'm leaving the ski locker out, since we didn't use it. So I didn't cut the holes in those horizontal pieces. I'm going the same route as Mark did on his floor resto, which is water tight back to the gas tank. When/if I sell the boat the ski locker will go with it. Since I took those floatation boxes out, I'll utilize that space. But yes you're right I would've cut those holes first.
