Starliner w/ G2 250HO Performance Report

Sam I couldn't resist posting these vid links from over the weekend after seeing yours. I have the same type of adorable kid comments from the shore also, with the wife taking the videos:
Vid 1
Vid 2

Unless it's just me, you may want to consider YouTube for posting videos... I had a hard time getting any of yours to play smoothly.
Great looking boat and best of luck with the prop testing!

Not just you, go with youtube. :bounce:

is that sam's boat from a distant view? if so, that G2 sounds nice, not to mention that "small" rooster tail! sick!!!!

I assume you're talking about the YouTube links? Those are of my Vandal with a cross flow on the back. The kid comments in his and mine was the funny part for me, and why I posted the links.

Well...I got it up to 80 today, but it was behind the truck going to the dealer for winterization, GPS Antenna install, water pressure gauge finishing, and diagnostic as I got a check engine light a few weeks ago. Still seemed to run great, just gave me the indicator.

And I've had a whole lot of other stuff going on the last few weeks too. I'll update that on another thread.

I'll let you know what the latest is, next spring. I know...lousy answer.

[QUOTE) Here is a great shot of a motor running with the engine very high and you can see how the prop carries the water the whole time, albeit breaking the surface.

I am wondering if any of you noticed the jackplate bending under load? You can really see it around 2:10 in the video. I always thought there was something deficient about the design of the Bob's plate.

Interesting. I can't see it moving, although the camera is moving so it makes it difficult. There is a ton of leverage on that plate when it's extended for sure.

w/r/t how a blade breaks on a prop in a surfacing application, I actually don't agree with anything you have posted so far.
But that's OK, if we all agreed on everything, none of us would learn anything.

b/t/w/ its not just about "simple physics", it's also about metallurgy, but that's nit picking
(If you're talking to me?)
You should definitely read the book "Everything you Need to Know about Propellers." You don't have to agree, it's not what I say, it's just how props work. Lol. But you won't understand the other document I posted if you don't understand the basics.

And it seems like you're confusing two different things; blades breaking and how surface piercing props work. Blades break for lots of reasons but you can't measure how far the prop is out of the water by where the prop breaks as another member posted, that is absolutely impossible.

:brickwall:

So Sam, besides getting the motor checked out, any other winter projects on the boat? She sure did come out awesome! You should bring her down to NC for the winter and let me rub her w- a cloth diaper and keep the motor all nice and happy!:)
