What do you pull your checkmate with??

no more truck bashing....they're all the same and do the same job....they all break and all pull our boats....enough said!! i also wasn't a big fan of the look of my 08 silverado at first but one drive and it was a match made in heaven....best truck i've ever owned....and with the MAX package 11,500lb towing capacity with 384hp stock...and can get 23-24mpg pulling my checkmate in 4cyl mode(Displacement on Demand engine)

So the motor will go into 4cyl mode while towing? We still got average towing mileage with my buddies 08 dodge and another buddies 08 Chevy. But that only had the 5.3L so maybe with your added HP it will?

Those Max package trucks are very appealing as far as features go.

You are 110% right, they all pull, they all look good in the eye of the beholder, and they all BREAK! Thats what sucks....HAHAHAHA

yea i think the added hp helps it go into 4cyl more often, i get crap pulling my camper 8,000lbs(10-12mpg) but for some reason the boat is great, i almost get better mileage with the boat then without it, but that may be because i only pull the boat at 70mph. haha

Well I'd guess there is far less drag for the boat too as the V's really help the windage...But its still a load back there for sure! Impressive!

We pull snowmobile trialers for then anything, boxy fronts, way wider then the truck....Its a reciepe for aweful fuel economy...Just like dragging a parachute!!!

correct me if I am wrong but I do believe this thread is titled what do yo pull your checkmate with not what do you drive. From what I see Erick does not have a checkmate so why are you posting in this thread??? Im:poke: just playing btw.

I have to admit, it is funny to read about you guys bragging about power out of your little gas motors!!!!!!:bounce::bounce: Personally, as long as I own a truck, I will never own gas again, I do not like the feeling of not being able to get out of m own way!!:sssh:

till you pull up to the pump:lol: no really- wish i had a diesel! my next truck WILL BE and don't care what brand!

I don't feel diesel prices too bad- also, the diff per gal isn't that much, for now. My 05 gets 18mpg running country roads, the 98 gets 20. On the hwy- 05 gets 19-20mpg the 98 gets 21-22mpg (with a best of 23.6). These figures are all on summer fuel and driving for mpg at 5over the posted speed- winter fuel is worse by around 2mpg. My boat isn't big enough to affect milage, so I don't really see a difference. That tells me I need a bigger boat!

this is my 2005 silverado crew cab with a 3" lift and 33x12.5 bfg tires. i ordered the z71 and 410 rear end gears for pulling. it pulls my 98 251 convincor great!

I dont know of any truck that has rear coil springs.

My '09 Dodge has coil springs and it did affect (lowered) the rated towing capacity a bit. But, it rides great and tows my 253 Convincor like it ain't even back there. I will try to post pix soon, cuz it is a pretty fine lookin rig if I do say so myself:bigthumb:.

OOPS, I see a couple of guys already covered this, guess I should have finished reading the thread. Anywho, I'll try to post pix soon.

Wanted to make sure my truck could handle pulling my 17' sportfire around. Maybe it was a little overkill.

nope - that truck should be just about right to pull your boat as long as the trailer has a fifth wheel anyway!
