I'm new to this, so.....
Just thought I'd chime in and say HI, all!
A little about me?...My family started in the marine industry during WWII. My dad worked those oposed OMC twins for the asalt boats. After the war, he worked for United Airlines, (1946 to 1951) then worked for Staff Jennings here in Portland Or. (1951 to 1957) then started his own shop with kiekhaefer Mercury's help to get started as a dealer. I came along in 1959 and still have the shop to this day. In 1986, Mercury Marine and us parted ways for unknown reasons, all of a sudden, I couldn't order parts and have never gotten a valid reason for it, jusy "poof" gone! I still work on the older merc's, but mainly concentrate on the MerCruiser stern drives and Hamilton/Kodiac jet drives.
What can I do for you, this board?
I have a vast supply of parts from 1955 to 1985, I do know the mercury product very well from those years, I'm not ashamed to say I get dang stupid on the newer stuff, but I still feel the older stuff is where it's at anyway! Do you agree? I'm also a Wiseco and CDI dealer and offer very good discounts to those who buy from me. I sell to a few racers who tell me they can't beat my prices even with the shipping charges, so I must be doing something right?
I also spent time racing hydroplanes, I love the C, D, mods and FE six engines. I've spent quite a bit of time with the two masters of modified and alky engine building, the great Lon Stevens and O.F. Christner! They taught me allot! Pending on how deep your pockets are, I can tell you how to squeeze every once of horsepower you can out of these old dogs, but remember when you make more power, you make a weaker engine, it won't be as durable! Before I touch the powerhead, I like to see what can be done with the gears, gearcase and props.
If I can be any help to anyone, I'll try my best to be an open book!
Thanx
