OK back on track!

Started putting ideals together for setback and vertical adjustment.

I had to go up and rob my neighbors house (mom & dad's) for some 6061 aluminum. Dad had a plate made for his glastron to add some strength to it. after telling him if he aint used it in 20 years he prob ain't going to install it anytime soon. So he finally came off it. I also started working on him to sell the glastron and buy a wooden chris craft for us to redo. Since he had one back in the 60's I think he has a little bug in his mind now:thumb:

So this is what I came up with. I will have to have a friend weld it for me since I dont have a spool gun to do it. Other than that, I will fab everything and prep it for welding myself. I have some trimming work to do and the "2 angle's on the transom plate" will be reversed from in the pic, but you get the ideal.

This when done will give me 4" setback and also 4" of vertical movement in 1" increments.
 
I also got the boat in the garage and off the trailer. The tarp got blown off last night and she was white when I woke up today. The trailer is so long that it takes the entire garage up (6' tongue on it). I still have to put it on the waverunner cart but at least its out of the snow. There is something nice about working on a small boat. I got it off the trailer in about 5 minutes and did not even break a sweat doing it

Add the 24" gil bracket for a smooth 28" setback, that mota would in another zip code.:lol:
 
You plan on doing any engine mods to the ole 90? If so, give us some details and let us know where you are getting the performance parts:thumb:

I think the 90 should have more than enough to do what I want it to do. I dont even know what can be done to get more power from it besides boring it?????? 50 shot of NOS maybe :devil: MUHA HA HA HA!!!
 
hey ol yellow. i dont mean to get in your project, but i would love to give you some tips on fabbing up you gil brackett. the 6061 is an excellent choice. i am a welder/fabricater for a local welding company for the chemical ref. we do a bunch of aluminium and i would not use a squirt gun because the welds tend to have a lot of sub-surface pin holes. we use tig welding only and it is proven time after time. the procedure we use to weld it with is-- first we get a d.a. sander with 80 grit to get rid of any surface residue , second we cut everything out with a skill saw and regular blade on normal(not backwords). third if we are gona powder coat it , we da it with 120. we make all welds with tig, slightly leaning your cup in the direction your going with weld( it makes welds silver and clean). otherwise they will be black and full of black smut. then we tack it together and wipe it down with accetone and begin to weld. it is a lot of bs but worth the work in the end. we have a varible speed grinder and a drum that has scuff pad material on it and run it down the plate. that in it self will give it a grained aluminium look. i hope this helps

I am always open to comments in any of my post. If there is a way that someone see's to do it better, PLEASE chime in. I like everyone else am learning about boats everyday and will continue to do so till I die.

Yes I am having my friend do it that owns a machine shop. He will use a tig to weld it for me. He welded my aluminum front differental together on my older K3500 and it worked perfectly. I only have an arc and a mig so its either a spool gun (that is a $1100 option that I wont spend for it) or arc. I have arced aluminum 1 time in my life and it came out good looking but I would not trust myself doing this bracket. Just a lot to lose if it broke loose;).

Robbie, I am moving the tank up front to offset the motor. I know all the paradise boats had them up front w/60hp rating. the St Martin and playmate have a 50hp rating and I believe both of them have plastic portable tanks.
As for the sand bags, I am going to have them in there but when you turn your head, I am hiding them in your boat:sssh:
 
So I got out into the garage a little today and got my ideal roughed out onto the aluminum.
Used a heavy piece of paper cut to match the transom plate so that I can locate all the holes and also the body line. To my amazement, the old motor was set to the starboard side by 1". Dont know why or how other than it was hung friday afternoon:cheers: or the motor guy's GF might have had a few extra pounds :eyecrazy:. Anyway I am not going to use the old holes anyway I will just silicone them and glass over them when I do the paint work.

Base angles are in place where they need to be. I will drill and bolt 2 bolts through these angles into the plate and through the transom and add plates to the backside.

Got the brackets made now. I have to have the lower bolts machined to be slots. This will allow me to loosen up the bottom blots, remove the top bolts and jack the motor up. Then tighten them all down. I know its not the easiest adjustment but so far, I have $0 into the bracket! It will give 0-3" of motor lift. I would also say once I have the best numbers, it will never get changed again.
