lake cumberland poker run!

Hea i have a suggestion.......maybe you should call this " Checkmate Owners Rally or Regatta " ? Didn't know if your planning stop's , etc or what as far as calling it a Poker Run ? We could advertise it on our factory site ......maybe some magazine plugs as soon as things are somewhat figured out. Just trying to figure out what you all want to do ....? This going to be a 1 day event or 2 ...? Think i'm planning a vacation around it myself ! Houseboat / dragin the new 2400 BRX behind /stayin for a week or so ....the whole 9 yards ! MAYBE WE COULD EVEN DRAG WILDMAN UP FROM FL .......BIG RED ? !

i checked the airlines; a boat cannot be accepted as handbagage...

maybe time to get ticket to the US than.

I've got to be a real bastrd- I've got an omc on the mate and mercruiser power in the others...:p if at all possible, we'll be there in somthing that floats:thumb:
from there... so far 7-17-10 it sounds like???
Well you can stay at camp merc...... but you might be put at the far corner:poke:

Yep 7-17-10 is it.

So far, we have not talked much about the name of it. We can add that to the list and get it decided this weekend sometime. Advertising on the CM or anywhere else would be great.
What I was planning was getting down there thursday and staying till sunday. I am sure there will be others that will be going down early and staying later as well.

Merc245, you want to caravan down and we can grab the waterfront campgrounds for those of us camping?

I'm assuming Conley Bottom Resort is the gathering place? That would make a 7-8 hr trip for us, which is even better.:thumb:

I think the best chance at a good lot or two is we pull in at noon to one pm thursday,So I'm thinking going thru cinnci 8-830ish.Be advised this is all based on the speculation that wife wouldn't be intrested in attending the event.

We haven't had the Pulsar down to Cumberland yet, although we normally go there a couple times every summer. Had the Starlet there tons of times, the only time the water was tough for that boat was Poker Run weekend. For us it depends on the wife's work schedule and the son's soccer schedule. Where is everyone staying? We normally stay at Lee's Ford, or some little place between Russel Springs and the Jamestown Marina, I can't think of the name at the moment (Timber Pointe maybe).

Sounds good to me!

I think there is a lot of us camping guys are staying at conley bottom. There is other places all over to go if you dont do camping. Everything from jamestown motel to rental houses all around the lake or houseboats.

hey lcboater just where is this connely bottom located at anyway, ask lori if she can see it through her camera from your house

conley bottom is located around the center of the lake roughly halfway between burnside and jamestown.are you going to make it back to cumberland more this year? i told everyone about all the c/m that are on cumberland and all of the fun that we have hangin' out, looks like they might be coming to join us! lori says she can only see it on clear days!

So it looks like everyone is in for 7-17-10 then. I will be camping also, I got the merc-ruser so looks like I should be able to hang!!!! Depending on whats going on, one of my friends might bring the playmate down also.

Robbie, next time you talk to rod (old hickory) make sure he knows that he IS to come, LOL! I got plenty of room in my boat if his is not done.

The wife and I will be there; we'll be sportin' the Crownline though. We will also camp at Connely Bottom like some others. Is it first come first serve or by reservation for camp sites? Also, do they have full hook ups for RV's?

Edit: Just did a google search on my iPod here at work; looks like reservations can be made. It's also a private resort, not a Corp or state camp ground. I'll call tomorrow and check on rates and hook ups. I'm also going to see if there are Corp and state campgrounds in the area.

They have full hookups there. I think the plan is merc245 and I are going to run there thurs by noon so we can nab some of the lake view sites. We will need to know how many people are going to camp with us.
I have been fighting strep throat so I have not been on top of things. I am going to try to get more info together and start a info post as well on the game plan. I hope to have it most together by this weekend.

i talked to dave todaythat has the blown milk checkmate and i think we will try to make it, probably stay at his place and put the boats in at lees ford to cruise down

Robbie pinged me on this. We're moving to Charlotte and will be there in 2 months. I'd love to pull the 170 up there! Looks like around a 7 hour drive. The only problem is that my 20 year reunion looks like it may be the following weekend (which is an 11 hour drive!).

Pull the mate, fly to the reunion. Man that was easy!!!!!:D

Thought about that too! The problem is the flight goes to Detroit, 1-2 hour layover, then flight to Kalamazoo. You end up spending just as much time to fly. Plus if I drive, I can bring the 'mate up for the reunion! :rof:

But you'll be well rested for the drunkfest, I mean reunion if you fly.:poke:
