A Checkmate still Racing

i tried to catch up with these guys last year at a few races , hopefully this year. I agree with BR . i wish the factory would help out . i know factory race money is tight but at least hire a couple of hot chicks and put a few checkmate shirts on them for the pits...come on DOUG.. whatever checkmate offshore wins there were?? in recent history checkmate is never even in the conversation. i wish these guys the very best . good luck in 2011 . check out posts #20 #21 #23 http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/checkmate/233858-running-shots-3.html

Advertisement is a tax rite off as a sponsor would be running your name on the boat for advertisement.

I think it would be great if the factory helped them out, they already spend sponsor money on an Arca car. Just like Nascar, win on Sunday-sell on Monday and the boat would be seen by more boating buyers.

I guess its 100% true straight from the horses mouth

That is correct. We will not be running the Checkmate in the 2011 season. She is officially retired. Until someone else decides they want to run her.

:shakehead:

R you guys really surprised by this!! Come on take a good look at where the moneys at. Checkmate Boats are not known for a racing history of there buyer friendly priced larger boats. Reality check!! Yes they are great boats but not really a race boat, thats why you don't see to many. Congrats to the guys getting rigged in MD where we run in big water as the norm.

Maybe you need to look in the gallery at the historic pics. I would say back in the early years checkmate made a lot of history. You run different classes.

Keith,

Ocean Outboard and several other guys had a lot of success in the 80s and 90s running 25', 28' and 30' Checkmates. I beleive there are several regional and national champoins. I doubt if a Convincor could run with a modern Joker raceboat today, though.

Check out O-Outboard running their 28' CM......that is one dialed in boat!

The 1st pix is the Checkmate factory raceboat (Bill Combs/ Gary Erwin).

2nd pix is Action Marine's racboat ran by Viper1 from this site.

Gonna try this again.
I'm just saying if you went to a race, to see a Checkmate in the line up is not as common as other companys that will have a couple boats in each line up. Speaking of the larger hulls. Maybe the word history threw you guys a little farther back then I was thinking of. I was thinking in the last 20yrs or so where it seems the company has not been into racing as much as before that. To see any larger Checks racing now a days would really be surprising. So for a race team to retire outdated equipment and move on to more to date is not surprising.

Hope this makes sense, I'm confusing myself with what I mean now.
