100+ MPH CHECKMATES 100+ SPEED (Nominations)

Big Red

Well-known member
I have been digging up some old post to come up with some fast boats that have graced the pages of our site. And from what I have found we should all give Checkmate a big round of applause. All the boats I have found are the Big deep V models. The most impressive thing is they all are single boats engine.

All the boats I have listed below have ran over 100 mph GPS. If you feel I have made a mistake in my posting of a boat send me a pm and proof and I will have the boat removed.

The first boat will be Kunkles 2003 300 Convincor

Please do not post any here-say photos of boats that may have ran over 100. If you post a pic of a boat that runs over 100 you better have proof threw links to other sites if you are questioned.

A ball park figure to stick 300 Convincor at 100+ is 1000 HP an brains

Great to be included in this thread. I am certain it could also be titled "Checkmates with the most money invested in their build-ups".:eyecrazy:

Someone will purchase this boat and enjoy it without having to spend all the time, money, and testing to have it perform.

I love I/O's!

As Red stated, it is quite impressive that all of these 100+ MPH rigs are single engine.

It sounds like Checkmates perform well at these speeds, gotta love it.

Some day I wouldn't mind making a move to a bigger 'mate. Either a twin O/B like SCT's or a BIG I/O. Threads like this one will make it sooner than later!

What will it take to get that twin O/B Convincer to the 100mph mark SCT?

Thanks Red.:bigthumb:

"What will it take to get that twin O/B Convincer to the 100mph mark SCT?

......a JATO rocket!

I believe the "Redcheckmate" Persuader (another Kunkels set-up) ran over a 100 at the Alum Creek Shootout-

I heard the boat did I just can't find the proof yet. If somebody will direct me to a link where I can read it that will be good.

I think SCT's boat can hit the big 100 but I think for right now he wants reliability more than speed

Your boat is the best buy for the dollar right now if somebody is looking for speed.

If anybody is intrested in Kellyo's boat here is the link

don't know the owner but at the 2006 tim's rivershore annual radar run there was a white/burgundy 251 ran 114 dropped everybody's jaw and I was right there...have not seen the boat since...but was told by a close friend it was a friend of his and it was set on kill...but the boat you would not give a second look to....

I would be watching next boating season carefully....the way the Pulsare 2100 owners are going...somebody just might hit tripple digits!!

Who's putting a big block in their Pulsare

No big blocks but there's a few guys running modded 3.0 liter 250's and 300X's/300xs's that have already hit the low 90's and were still dialing in when the season ended. I'm sure the right setback/Prop/motor height combo will have them knocking on the door...

I found this on OSO who is this Jon and we picks of his boat

want to thank the organizers of this event. Even though the turn out was small, the boats that ran were impressive! Congratulations to Jon, in the 25 Checkmate, for winning the single engine v class (110 mph

). We didn't have a chance, in the 29' Fountain (102.4 mph). I also wanted to give a special congratulations to Docmanrich, for winning the twin engine v class (although still 4 mph slower than the Fountain

thats the event, the sheet showed the checkmate at 114 not 110, I have been going to that every year for a while now....we put the hotel on the finish line and have a big breakfast cook out !! and great veiw...although in 07 we were a little to close, but they set us up across from the pontoon boat(with the radar) to give the boats something aim at...the winners in the past few years have broken 150, that tom cat boat they were speaking of broke coming to the event and ran second...came back the next year to win...neat event ! here's the bad ass 251, Rob

100+

As I've posted before; there was a 18 foot checkmate with a blown 540+ cubic inch (not a 572) with a mercruiser twin prop counter rotating surface drive. It ran 116 on the gps. That's getting it for a 18 foot boat. I don't know the boost or size of the blower. 250+ hp in nitrous too.

Ok....I'm calling for a reveiw of this play from the booth....Red where are you...put that beer down and pay attention !!!

I heard of that mystery boat before on a thread but pics are yet to surface or any other member fails to back it up. I do feel a blown 540 in any boat 18 foot could run well over 100 "BUT" I have not seen a jock strap big enough to hold the balls that it would take to sick a 18 foot big block checkmate at 116. And why would you need a 250 shot of NOS on a blown 540 in a 18 foot boat.

My rulings on this are
