Yes Jetmate

Yes Jetmate I am very Proud of Both My Dear Friend William and His Dad for the Great Job They are Doing on Williams MX-15 Checkmate. I also would Like to Thank the Other Checkmate Members here on this Great Checkmate Forum that have Done Restorations and Improved the Performance and Beauty of there Checkmates. I Know So Many of You Members have Put Your Hearts and Soles into Your Checkmates and You all have Done Checkmate Boats a Great Justice in Preserving Some of the Best Years of Checkmates Hi-Performance History. My Hat goes off to Each and Every One of You Checkmate Members for a Fine Job Done. Best Wishes to All of You Checkmate Members. Always Sammie Action Marine

floor Restoration

Well that didnt happen tonight . My dad decided he wanted to start the stringer instead and it was cool here today only about 60 and it says pour the seacast when its about 75 degs . So looks like sunday might be the day . So as of right now we are out in the garage getting the stringer cut . I bought a 2x4x10 for the stringer and a sheet of 4x8 3/8"s in plywood for the floor and a few tubes of PL Premium ......
I'm gathering my supplies to restore my floor in a 16.5 open bow 1974 Checkmate. You mentioned PL Premium to use for the stringer and floor. Is that Loctite PL Premium 3X or the 8X. or one of the specility PLs.... Will these hold up over time if they happen to get wet? I notice it says not to submerge under water... Checkmate appeared to use a glue that looks like concrete and is extremely hard to grind down and remove...It definitely outlasted the wood core. I would hope it will last another 40 years.

Every one has there one opinion on Pl Premium But I have used it quite a few times on other things and its still holding up . You could also use 3M 5200 that is a perm bond too and cures faster with moisture . Everything I used PL Premium on was glued down and glass in .

Merc245

Merc245 Trust Me, William will use it every time he starts up His Mercury 150 hp. Every One Should have a Kill Switch and use it No Matter how Slow or fast there Boat is. Safety First should take Priority before Anything else. Every Action Marine Hi-Performance Boat that I Built for My Customers had a Kill Switch in it as Standard Equipment and Every Customer that I Taught how to Drive there Boats Learned that that Kill Switch was there for there Safety and to use it every time they started up there motors. In the 20 Plus Years that I Owned Action Marine I had a 100% Safety Record when it came to My Customers Driving there Hi-Performance Boats that I Built for Them. Everyone have a Fun Safe Labor Day Weekend and Best Wishes Always Sammie Action Marine

atc250r Thank You

atc250r Thank You My Friend, You could be Right. Merc245 did say if you actually use the thing? and My Post was Not Meant to be Disrespectful to Merc245 or anybody else here on this Checkmate Forum. I was just saying that My Dear Friend William will use the Kill Switch every time he starts up his motor because I Know William and he is as Much One of My Action Marine Guys Today as all the Action Marine Guys that I Built Hi-Performance Boats for years ago was. The Post was also a Reminder to any one here that the Kill Switch can Save Lives and that its Very Important for every one to try and use it if they have a kill switch and if some Don't have one now, Maybe its Time they do get one and use it. I Know First hand what Could of Happened to Me when I Did Blow My Hydrostream 15 ft Viper, Mothers Worry over at 115 MPH on one of our Boat Club's last Outing's on the Detroit River in November between the two Bridges that go over to Grosse Ile in Michigan. I Hit a piece of Wood that was just under the water with the Skeg of my motor which kicked the Bow up and the boat did a 360 in the Air and dropped Me Out at 115 MPH. When I Came up to the Top of the Surface with my Kill Switch attached to my Belt and I was Un-Hurt, There was My Viper Sitting Right side up Waiting for Me, Along With the Boat Club Members that Saw Me Out Front When I Blew Over. I Climbed back into my Boat and Hit the Bilge Pump to Pump the Little bit of water that was in my Viper out. Worried about My Boat and Motor, I started My Mercury up and Made a Pass down the River Again to make sure it was OK. Unknowing to me, but when the Bow went up, Water Rushed up the back of my Motor and through the Air Vents in the Back of the Cowl. The Water Pressure Broke the Porcelain on the Top 2 Spark Plugs Off Causing me only to be able to Run 90 MPH on 4 Cylinders. My Mother Never Found out until 3 years Latter when One of The Club Members that was Running with us that day Slipped and Said Something about me Blowing my HydroStream Over LOL. There was a Greater Power Looking Over Me That Day..Sammie-Action Marine

Somone sure was watching over you that day buddy! I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say I'm glad you're here to talk about it. If I'm doing anything more than cruising around with the family I wear mine. Oh, and "Mother's Worry" is a fantastic name for a fast boat. :) Have a great weekend, I hope you are getting out on the water.

Thank You atc250r

Thank You My Friend. Have a Great Weekend and Best Wishes Always to You and Your Family. Always Your Friend Sammie Action Marine

Trust me Just like my friend Sammie said I will always wear my lanyard .Every time I get behind the wheel of my dads boat I always attach the lanyard to me . To me its like putting on a seat belt just a habit and a good one to have . I would sure hate to be thrown out on my lake up north and watch my boat keep going and up into some ones yard house or boat .

Merc245

Merc245 I Can Answer Your Question as to the Placement of Williams Kill Switch My Friend, but First I want to make sure that You knew that My Past Post was Not Meant in any way to be Disrespectful to You or anybody else here on this Checkmate Forum. Merc245 William Mounted his Kill Switch there to cover up a hole in the dash that had been Drilled for a Cigarette Lighter by My Customer that I had Built this Boat for Many Years Ago. Normally it would of been mounted on the right side of the steering wheel. As for My Sharing One of My Action Marine Adventures with the Checkmate Members, I had Been asked by many members here in PM's and on the Open Forum to Share Some of them and being Close Friends with William I knew he would Not Mine if Posting My Blowing over My 15 ft Viper at 115 MPH to show the Importance of having a Kill Switch and Using it. I Hope it Helped some here to see How very Important it is to have and use there Kill Switch. Just Think if I had Not Used My Kill Switch all the Time, the Unthinkable Damage My 15 ft Viper with its Mercury T-3 Racing Motor would of Caused when it came down from its 360 degree Flip in the Air and was Allowed to take off and run unmanned. It Just Goes to Show You, No Matter Who You are or How Much Experience One has in Driving Hi-Performance Boats anything can Happen and When it Does It Happens to Fast for any one to try and put on there Kill Switch. So Better to Be Safe than Sorry and Always Wear Your Kill Switch. Every One have a Fun Safe Labor Day Weekend and Best Wishes Always Your Friend Sammie Action Marine
