1987 STARFIRE

Deff. needs more sanding with 1200 or 1500. I just did a quick job to see if I was wasting my time. Now that I see it may be salvagable I will keep working with it.

A few more pics, I was able to get most of the 220 scratches out. I want to hit it with a heavy cut compound and see where I stand.

I went through the same thing albeit on a much smaller scale when I removed the reg letters on mine. Someone put them way back from the bow and they were the generic Home Depot block letters. Had some made up to match the font on the Checkmate decal and in colors to match the scheme of the boat and put them right near the front where they belong. Much better and I was pleasantly surprised that after some buffing you could barely tell they were ever there and after a year or so the color balanced out and you really have to search for them. Perhaps a couple of large, goat shaped ones to cover the faded portions?

Thats a baaaadddd idea on the goat graphics. I did remove a damaged section of one and the fade isn't too bad but I'm still uncertain.

That is looking great so far Dave. I think you are going to save her.

I think you missed a hoof print or two though where Hudy been dancin on the deck....

There are a few spot left on the deck that need attention. It photographs better than it looks to the eye. Under the florescent lights you can see alot more than in the sunlight. Thats why I never deliver customer cars in the shop.
