89 Starliner Factory Refirb

Just got some pics from Kip. They filled in some of the old holes on the console, dash and gunnel for the new controls. The new Merc Blue gel really pops when next to the old, dull faded out gel.

Before with all the old holes:

After with patched up consol, dash and side...MUCH BETTER!!!

Forgot to add that the pop up cleats require a little more work than previously thought. The forward bulkhead and all the foam needs to be removed to install the new pop up cleat and the new pop up bow light. Oh well...I'm pissing in the ocean at this point in terms of $$ spent.

No way...drill a 6" pie eye access plate in the bulkhead, chizzle out the foam and get buzy...You could even jig saw out a rectangular access door into the bulkhead and chizzle out all the foam and use the area for storage. The bulkhead does not need to be removed!!!

Update

Talked with Dean at the factory and they got the boat off the trailer and ready to shoot. I had talked to them about putting a keel guard on as the bottom of the hull was pretty worn down. Dean thought that was a good idea too, but when they got it off the trailer, they could see the gel wear was all the back to the transom. So, he said he was thinking about what they should do there. I said there wasn't much to think about, shoot the bottom too. So, I'm getting the bottom shot in white...this is not original. The entire hull was Merc Blue originally, but i really like the look of Instigator's Starliner with the white bottom so, that's what she'll look like...gel wise.

Not enough pics coming from the factory...:(

I'm not a big fan of blue, there are only a few shades that make me look twice. Your shade of blue with the white lover hull is going to pop! Can't wait to see it out of paint! I don't recall, but are you doing some accents on the engine to compliment the scheme?

On a side note, having just went through this building a 1976 Jeep CJ5, I know all the emotions you are going through. And the ones you will be going through as the project nears completion.

Sam, Sorry about the thread derail

Worst part is I dragged two Moderators into the derail with me!:bigthumb:

Sam, hurry up and get more pictures! You need a spy in the factory or something?

No pics, but another development: Officially pulled the trigger on a new C-Hawk trailer this morning. White with Merc Blue Pins, Single axle with brakes, and swing tongue.

If it wasn't official before, it should be now: I'm off my rocker. Help.

Seriously...I got the "cut me some slack email" response for my last picture request. Oh well...what can I say, I'm excited.

Just tell him you'd be perfectly happy with a pic of a new angle of the same work even though nothing is different. Its like being away from your kids for the first time. You just want updates even though you know they havent grown any.

The trailer is going to make it feel like you traveled back in time to purchasing this boat and trailer new in 1989. If you really want to screw with kip, go in 80s clothing and ask him to role play like you just walked into a show room and are looking for your first new boat. Tell him no final check until he plays along
