Well tried a new prop toaday 14 1/4 by 23 .,
Works good only lost 150 rpm over the 14 1/2 by 19.I can live with that. Still waiting for the skins.JUst playin around getting some speed out of it while I wait for the interior.I think I saw boatn 70 out today. as I was leaving the launches. He was coming in.Well thats all for now.

Did you see a speed increase with the new prop?
Boy do I need to get on the water. Boat is comming along. Pad is on, but still have a bunch of work ahead to blend it into the hull.

Yea I went from 52 or so at full throttle to 59 or so at full throttle with very little loss in the hole shot. She reved to 4k with the smaller prop and now is at 3850.Shouldn't a 350 turn 4500 or so.It'll only hit 4000 reving it in neutral. seems low.

First thing I'd check is the tach.Is it accurate? A lot of them aren't.A 350 shouldn't have any problem hitting 5000 rpm.But I think the redline is 4800.If its accurate ,your prop is bogging the engine.

Thats hard on an engine.I'd drop the pitch size to a 20 or 21 and see how it responds.Good luck

I put a 19p on it and still only 4000 rpm.checked the timing. It was 5 degreese slow from stock.I put my snap on timing light on it and the the tach is right there.Where do i look.
Should i put new points in it and tune it up it seems to run fine. Not shure where to look first.

Okay,Heres a few ideas,is the throttle cable really giving you full throttle? Are the secondary butterflies opening? A tune up is certainly a good idea. New points could really make the difference and they must be dwelled properly. That can make a huge difference on how it runs.I tell ya 59 mph really is about what the set up is good for.I'd also check to see if the timing chain is stretched.CHECKMATE'S ,MOPARS and HARLEY'S GOTA LOVE EM

Well checked a few things today and ordered new points and got new wires and plugs.Talked with mike colmbs about it.He said 23p is what mate recomended for this set up from the factory and it should pull 5000 rpm no problem with the 19p prop on it.With the 23 he said it should see low to mid 60's for speed.I'll get it figured out but anybody with sugestions is welcome to put there 2c in.

Almost forgot the motor has about50 hours on it it's a rpm brand out of MI.Rated at 300hp .The carb opens all the way and works good.Plugs ,wires and point's will be new on the next run.

300 hp would certainly give mid 60's in that boat.Thought it was a 260 hp.When you get out again ,if it still doesn't run right I'd play around with the distributor a little each way and see if it likes it or not.

Try some Nitrous,it'll rev up then

Well thanks eric.I am getting to the bottom of it.The button on the cap was worn flat the points were shot two bad wires (replaced them all)shot plugs. Now need too get it back out and try it.I cant believe it ran as good as it did like that.I had to put champion plugs in it.

It should scream now. 2 plug wires huh. That will slow you down a bit. Have you thought about converting it to electronic ignition?

Yes I have but I'm not going to takle that until the interior is done and the side's of the boat are refinished.I took it out for a spin today.Gain 4mph and a better hole shot but still only 4000 rpm with either prop.It will rev right up there in neutral but not in gear.
I am going to have the drive looked at by a guy that knows them well and get his opinion of it.
I'm starting to get discuraged.Maybee i'm just too spoiled with the seat of you're pants ride of the trimate.LOL
