Even More CL Finds!

28' Convincor w- dual 200 Evinrudes for $4999.
http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/boa/4727353542.html

I called about this one yesterday.
Says the boats an '85 (???) and motors are '89's.
Pretty rough and no title.

I may try and call about the free one today.
I may be out of time though before starting a new job.

Interesting. Thanks Rob.
The free one might be a better deal :p

The trailer is scrap, the motors are old enough you'd be lucky to get $500. for the pair.
Once the dust settled w/both my twin O/B Sonics I ended up w/about $4500. in each, good trailers, less power. They both needed restored but I put many hrs (weekending) on both before starting the restorations.

This one is a Koi pond waiting to happen.

He just texted me and offered me the boat only no motors or trailer for $2,500. Probably not too bad of a price. The paints actually pretty decent.

Interesting. Are you going to do it?

I don't have the money right now for a trailer and don't know anyone around here to borrow one from.
Otherwise I might be in trouble ;)

He told me he was thinking of splitting it up. When quizzed about the trailer he said if I brought 4 tires it might get me home.
Not.

He just called me and I offered $1,500 and he countered with $2k. Would my trailer under my 25' Convincor work to go get it?

Hull only, if your axles can be moved and you relocated them almost all the way back it may balance well enough to get it home if your not in too much of a hurry.

I would think taking the motors off would increase the tongue weight so you'd have to slide the axles up? I wouldn't be surprised if it was OK without moving them at all.

I think with no motors on it it would do just fine as is! Id set it on it and make sure it has some tong weight (even just a little) and head home. Might not set any speed records but it should do fine! Hell i was considering pulling the tong stand off of mine and heading out to get the free 28'!! but i think the boss lady would be pissed...

Edit: Well that and then it would just sit in my yard or barn for the next 2-5 years till i could even think bout putting any money in it.

Yep. Exactly right.
Center the hull on the trailer to get a couple hundred lbs tongue weight and head for home.
W/the motors on my old 24' Sonic it had about the right tongue weight for straight towing and my van set level.
W/the motors off I needed a floor jack to lift the tongue and it would settle the ass end of my van 4" or so.
