Or nail 'em to the side of the house!!!

Did you get your new boat wet yet??

Naaaaaa, not on the water yet, shooting for Aug.

I got a few lil things to deal with first. I have new gauges, new steering wheel, steering extension and helm cover to install. The steering wheel is a 12" polished stainless that was made for a sand rail, should look cool but will be hot as hell on the hands LOL! One of the gas tanks is flopping all around and that could suck because it looks like the mounting points are gone, the transom is about 1/2 rotted away but that's no big deal on a jet........Really, no kidding, the transom only keeps the water out on a jet boat, it's not load bearing at all! I just don't want to crack the skin of the transom with trailer tie downs pulling on the rear cleats when towing. If I'm gonna fix it I need to do now while the motor is out of the way. I need to install my straight snoot, place diverter, steering shaft extension, diverter controller and diverter cable, I have chrome bilge dumps and a sweet looking hide away bow light I want to use, the wheels and tires are crap. Think tires are from 1980's LOL! The wench is crap, the trailer lights need some work, bearings races and seals need checked. The engine has never been fired, cam needs broken in, that's stressing me out the most! Hope my brand new 8K$ motor behaves :yell: Want to find a sick looking air scoop and have it painted to match the hull. Found one on E-bay I like, it's an old school Roth style fiberglass reproduction from the 60's. It's called the hammer-head, I love it. Ok, this sounds like a bunch of work but it's way less work and way less $$$$ than finishing the Carlson project :thumb:

Sterling Project

OK I finally tore into the Sterling today and what a mess I found, LOL! You know what, some people should not attempt fiberglass repairs! I removed the crappy past repair work with my bare hands. Pulled out some rotten gas tank mounts with one tug. Think I can do a way better job than that for sure. The transom is about 90% gone but should be easy to fix on a jet-boat. My stainless steel sand rail steering wheel arrived today on big brown. I like it big time, think it looks way cool! Will try and get some pics posted soon :thumb:

The chrome chain wheel is cool but I can't use it because of the larger diameter. This one is only 12" so it gives me the room I need to reach down and work the diverter controller and not have my legs all in the way. Never seen one like this before, I like the 1 1/4' grip and it will never rust LOL! I also got the billet center cover to finish it off. They have a bunch of cool wheels from 9" to 14" and they don't cost much.

Check out www.dunebuggy.com you will find them in the steering and suspension section.

Roth Style Hammer Head Scoop

HammerheadScoop3.jpg
What do you think about this scoop? This is what I plan on running, don't want to use the same thing everyone else has. It seems like most jets use an aluminum scoop like the Hilborn, Mr Gasket or Shotgun style. I want to be different than the rest of the crowd. The dude that makes them assures me that they are built really strong and I will not have any issues with cracking. The thing is held in place by the entire air cleaner assembly rather than bolted on. Will color match it to the boat and finish it off with some old school hand painted pinstripe work
