I'm starting to like Jet drives

This is the scoop I plan on going with

314d_2.jpg 31a3_0.jpg317f_0.jpg314d_0.jpg
It's 43"long 27"wide and 4"tall. I may need to go with one that is 5" tall. Need to check the template one last time befor I place an order. You know the deal
(Measure twice and cut once)

Ok, Check this out. Last year my buddy told me how much he hated jet boats. He told me all about how loud and slow they are. He told me all about how they suck gas and this and that and blaaaa and blaaaa. The last thing he said was "I will never own a jet boat" Well just look who is the proud owner of a rare 1971 Tahiti 21' Off Shore. Good job Mark and welcome to the SML Super Jet family. We all really think you are giong to have a blast with that old school ride. But yes you will need to yank the 600 CI out of the drag car and change the cam if you want this big ass hull to really fly :D
 CAN YOU SAY SPRAY THE BRIDGE:banana:

We are 100% sure that you and Kathy are giong to have a blast with this old school but, Yes, you will need to yank the 600 ci BBC out of the drag car, change the cam and slip it in the Tahiti if you really want to make that big ass hull fly.
 YOUR NEXT MISSION IS TO SPRAY A ROOSTER OVER THE BRIDGE AND GET A TICKET

Well, your buddy's scoop is facing the back, but what happens when you use reverse to stop(at full throttle no less)

that was one of my favorite parts of owning a "squirt boat" btw

Thunder on the James

Hi gang
We went to Morgantion NC. Oct 28th 29th and 30th to the Toys for Tots Thunder on The James Hot Boat weekend. The weather was perfect all 3 days. There were a bunch of Cool Ass boats and really nice people there. Need to say thanks to Markist, Wideopen 545, JRjetter, Warpspeed, Orangepeel, Shirkey, JR and all the rest of the Southern Hot Boat gang! I came home all pumped up about working on the project boat plus there won't be much good weather left in VA for outside work. Made templates for my stringers out of 1/4" plywood. They all fit well so it's time to cut out the doug fir stringers now. I also started to install the *bass ackwards* cowl induction scoop on my engine hatch. This could be a job if it's ever gonna look good and it's my first time working with the West Sysyems epoxy resin and fillers.

Found a vintage pair of wiskey barrel seat shells.
Don't know how old they are but they look to be really old and the cool thing is that they have never been covered before.
They are just the style of seat I was looking for.

Picked up an old section or billet truck grill that I'm to cut it to and make a grill for my cowl scoop.
Don't want a beach towl of any loose stuff to get free and go into the mouth of the scoop.
Also got a good shot of some of the the toys we gathered for the kids.

I don't think I would have cut up the original engine hatch, I think I would have used that as a plug, made a mold and then made a new one to cut up/mold/whatever. Then you could have used the mold to make other ones and sell them if guys are asking 7 hundo for one...

Just my .02...

Deezy the hatch was like this when I got the boat. I didn't know it was cut wide open.
The E-bay seller never had a pic of the boat showing the hatch.
He did say that the hatch was there and would go with the sale of the boat.
I wanted to keep it factory but just didn't trust my skills to try and remold it.
Plan B was to find something to cover the hole so I went with plan B.
The cowl induction scoop turned forward was the only scoop I could find that would get the job done.
Wanted to clear the air cleaner on the BBC.
:yell: Just what the hell were they thinking when they did this butcher job :yell:
