I'm starting to like Jet drives

Thanks Gus !
How's the boat going, is it done? I wanted to let you know how much enjoyment and insporation I've gotten from looking at your restoration pics. I think your boat was the first one I had ever seen all torn apart. Hummmmm so that's what the inside of a boat looks like-A. I know the kind of hours you have invested . Damn good job man! That is one BAD ASS Trimate!

Thanks Wicked. The cold nasty stuff is setting in around here. Going to get through hunting season, then its back to the garage. Its the small detail things that are eating up time now. Since there is noting left from the factory it all has to be designed and built. I normally have to do each process twice as the first one never looks like the picture I had in my brain. I really suck at working with wood.:brickwall:

Need a K&N filter to fit this.

I picked up this vintage air cleaner last week. It is a National brand air cleaner that was sold by JC Whitney in the 60's. I liked the way it looked so I was thinking about running it on the boat. I need to find a K&N filter that is 9-1/2" OD and 1-7/87" tall. I know it's a rather small element but I was thinking that it would flow good enough if I used it with a good filter. It's kind of rare so it would be cool to run but I may need to go with some other set up. Not sure if I'm gonna use it or not.

Ok I found a K&N element that will work with this relic of an air cleaner :D Think it's for an AMC or old Jeep. It's 2.75" tall so it should flow way better than the 1.75" tall paper element that came with it. Think this will be the one I use. Old school style with a modern filter, that works for me. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

My buddy and I worked on my pump today. Got the rebuild kit installed. New bearing, seals, ware ring, impeller, packing seals and packing gland.

I bought the Checkmate I have with the intention of taking on one of those jet boat conversions. Not that I have any degree of jet boat background, I just always wanted one. The transom was supposed to be bad on it and the motor wasn't supposed to run. I found out that there was nothing wrong with the transom and the motor needed routine maintenance. When I got it home and got a good look at it I knew that there was no way I would deface this beautiful boat.

Now I have a beefed up 302 and a Berkley jet drive (I have had conversations with friends about the big block torque side too but I wanted to try a little less weight and it is a sweet powerful motor). I too have a Glastron. It is a little GT150. It has an Evinrude 85 on it. I considered making it the jet boat project but the notion soon passed. I will probably just find a stern-drive boat that needs an engine and put it in there.

I have a Silverline 19' V hull that has a 4 banger in it and a 1970 CorrectCraft 18' Freeport that I am redoing the floor in too. It is a V drive with a 235 HP 318. It is a deep V hull and should make a great wakeboarding boat. I know I am going to get rid of the Glastron but I am not sure which of the other 2 I will keep. There are 2 things I am sure of. I am keeping the Diplomat and none of them are going to become a jet boat anytime soon.

Great project you are doing though. It is easy to see that it is going to be a sweet boat. Keep up the good work. Remember, thanks to American Chopper, making do with what is at your disposal is now commonly accepted being called "Fabricating".

Barts Boats

Cool line up of boats you have there Bart. Good idea to stay away from the jet drive swap out idea. Sure, you need to add a jetboat to your collection but get a jet boat hull that is made for the BERKLEY pump. You can find them almost anywhere with no motor.
Thank you for the kind words on my project :thumb:

CVX20 Project Audio

I know it's way down near the bottom of any build list but what the heck I got a deal. Just picked up some marine audio for the boat, Kicker marine sub, mids and tweets and a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp

Actually the timing is about right. This way you will know what you have when it come time to build the mounting spots for the speakers.

Sounds like a good idea to me Gus! It's a perfect time to get the marine audio!
Now I just need to show the wife your comment then she will be totally cool with my boat project spending!
$$:D$$

Yep. Just tell here about all the money you saved in building material. The way I see it you would have had the boat done. Then when installing the audio you would have thought of a better way and would have had to rebuild something.:thumb:
