JP's Pulsare ressurection #2

JUPITER PULSARE

Well-known member
Well...my new to me Pulsare 2100 arrived from Tom's River NJ sunday afternoon so I immediately got to work. The boats going to need a really good detailing from sitting out in the weather. I removed the seats, seat cushions, bow pads, storage locker and scrubbed them with Soft Scrub with Bleach. They're all in good shape with no tears and just a few small stains. I began to vaccuum out years buildup of trash but it began to rain. I also hit the deck with a highspeed wheel and some 3M Finness. I'm going to remove the entire rear bench to gain access to the bilge so I can strip the rigging and repaint everything in white Bilgecoat. (The bilge is really bad). Gages will be replaced by new Livorsi's (teal bezels, purple rings, white faces). I'm also going to add a setback bracket and probably replace the jackplate...

Very nice. How is the floor & transom?

The floor feels solid. I walked every inch feeling for soft spots.....but could not find any. I could not detect any problems with the transom...some small gelcoat stress cracks in the corners of the splash well. The bilge is really dirty..I looked for cracks along the inside of the transom knees and around the motor mounting holes but could not see any. So far so good!! Hopefully everything will look good when I remove the jackplate..

Remote oil fill

Hey Jup, Didnt have a remote oil fill on that boat. Ordered my new boat with one installed from Checkmate. Best option I ever got. Im sure you could do it easily. Im sure you already cosidered it. Keeps any wierd oil spills, grease totally out of the bilge. It is not easy filling that remote tank with the space given. Glad to hear the boat looks sound so far. Steve.

Hey Steve! On my old Pulsare I had the oil tank mounted where it was easier to reach and remove for refilliing. I'll probably relocate the oil tank if I decide to go oil injected. On the AE-21 I'm running premix..

Oil fill

Steve, I had them mount a cap opposite the fuel cap. They clamped an air tight hose from it to the remote oil tank. Tank stayed exactly where it was. Works great. Pop the cap pour in the oil close her up. Havent had to touch or move the oil tank all Summer. 15 gallons of oil used all summer. Thank god for not having to do anything with the tank what a pain in the butt it used to be. Steve.

Yeah, I know. It was a pain in the azz undoing the rubber retaining strap, dragging the oil tank through the narrow seat opening, refilling the tank and then squeezing everything back in:shakehead:. I was very anal about keeping a clean bilge so dragging the tank out of my old boat wasn't a messy job;). I have alot of bilge cleaning and painting to do in the new bilge:yell:! If I don't take the AE-21 out this sunday I'll be working on your old boat!!:surf:
I'm going to finish vacumming inside the cabin, drying the boat out and removing the rear bench to gain access to the bilge.

Got a chance to work on the Pulsare today. I removed the seatbox and backrest. They are both rotten and will need to be rebuilt or replaced. I derigged the bilge and spent hours cleaning oil and sludge. The bilge will be sanded and painted with white BilgeKote before being rerigged. I am going to replace the rusty backing plates with some newly manufactured one piece backing plates. The carpets were shampooed and everything vacuumed out today also! Here's some before and after shots:

If scream and fly is open in another "tab", the pics will show up here. I run several tabs open all the time. So he might not even know they don't show for those who don't have S&F open.
