SCT's New Pulsare

I'd like a Pulsare with a 250 XS.

A promax is great when you want all out top end, but ask JW, they are loud as hell. And it can get a bit annoying if you use your boat for more than just impressing the people on the beach. Towing the kids around on the tube with a promax would get pretty tiresome, quickly. And the gas milage is sucky too.

OK, you can slam me now.

Oldschool,

The throttle is the new Mercury throttle style. The S-wheel is an after market Gaffrig. The mushroom "fender" cleats on the side are from Eddie's Marine.

I agree with you Chris, Unless alls you want to do is race, go with a nice reasonable motor. Except mine would be a Yamaha.

SCT... what a great color combo!!!! Seeing that gets my attention for sure!... Whats the power chioce going to be??? I have a friend who just sold his 280 sport and rigged his with a new 250XS Optimax... Went for a ride and was totally IMPRESSED... quiet, smooth, stump pulling torque, and he claims it actually gets Miles to the Gallon, not gallons to the mile (and no fouled plugs)!!! I also heard good things about the new Yamaha 300 HPDI motor, and the new supercharged 275 Merc 4-stroke...both of which would be more user friendly on that dream boat. I know that the 300X would be fun, but I guess the "bigger picture" is how you'll be using it! Keep us posted on the final... Jim.

P.S. what are you going with the other boat???

TRY & DECIDE... PRO MAX FOR SALE $12,500... IT'S 4 YEARS OLD BUT ITS A GREAT OPERTUNITY SEE IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT.. Look under buy and sell .. IT'S CHEEPER THAN BEING UNHAPPY... If you dont like it sell it..
If you like it you got a deal on a great motor....

Hey SCT

Who's jack plate is that you have? Looks great. Real nice boat. Have fun with it. I agree with some of the other guys here on the Motor buy something dependable and not to radical. Been there done that with Mod VP, 2.4, 2.5 EFI Bridgeport offshores real fast but allways something and really LOUD great for race boats but . Anyway it is up to you. Love to see it with a 300 on it. All the best

TCAT,

The jp is a manual 12" RapidJack I bought used and had powdercoated.
You have a sharp looking Pulsare. It looks brand new for a 98' boat.

Hi jrmon,
I'm still going to put a 300x on the boat since 05' will be the last year for the engine. I had a straight 300PM on my old Pulsare and did not have any problems at all with the engine. I think the X will run alot stronger than the early model 300pm. The Xs have alot more torque and rpm range. I just have to get off my butt and place my order for the engine......

SCT
I just got finished making up a dual stainless steel braided ob hose kit for the boat. It looks pretty cool with 2" braided instead of the black plastic "vaccum" hose. I also had the hydraulic steering hoses braided. I
am spending way to much money...
I'll have to send Chris some pixs.

You know what they say.. "A BOAT'S A HOLE IN THE WATER YOU KEEP POURING MONEY INTO".
At least, when you have that beauty set up you won't be spending anything on it for a long time.

When my kids are out of school maybe my wife might give me a boat budget like yours..
6 years to wait !!! NO.... She'll probably want a new car...

Yea but the boat is a whole on the trailer where the money is being thrown. But it will be a dam fine boat when it hits the water.

jkeiper:

I'm a little slow, I remember you saying " break out another thousand" i GET IT NOW

How true it is.

SCT, ONE GREAT DAY BLASTING ACCROSS THE WATER WILL MAKE YOU FORGET ABOUT ALL THE $$$ YOU SPENT. MY BOAT MAY SOMETIMES SIT IN THE GARAGE FOR WEEKS (SOMETIMES MONTHS) WITHOUT BEING USED BUT ALL IT TAKES IS ONE HOT, SUNNY AFTERNOON AND A TANK FULL OF GAS TO REMIND ME WHY I'M ADDICTED TO THIS GREAT HOBBY; NOT TO MENTION THE FRINGE BENEFITS!!(DOCKSIDE RESTAURANTS/BARS, BIKINIS, SUNTANS, KIDS SMILING FACES, SNOKELING, SKIING/TUBING, EXPLORING, ETC, ETC, ETC,)
