Coolio!

SCT... so what's the status on the new ride and your old one???
bounce.gif

ALSO, what set-up/prop/jack plate/performance numbers on the old rig... I'm curious if a 300ProMax is enough or should I be aiming for a 300X on my future "FAMILY" ride??? Thanks, Jim

Hey Jim,

I'm finally ready to order the 300x for my new 2100BR. This will be the last year for the 300x, so I want to get my order in soon.

The guy (FastRog) who bought my old red Pulsare just traded it in for a brand new 2100. I forget the dealer but it will be ready for resale. The old boat with the 300 PM would run 86-87 gps with 8" setback and a 28' Mercury ET prop.

I've heard the Xs run alot stronger then the early PMs (they were overrated). I'm shooting for 93-95 gps w/ 12" of setback. I'm going to take the 300x stickers off the cowl. It should be a real "sleeper" ....being a BR with a skipole and a tube on the bow. It will humble some 100K+ offshore boats!

What do you think?

SCT... Your on the money!!!! That is EXACTLY the rig I would like to put together...
xxrotflmao.gif

What jack plate brand are you planning and what steering system???

I also hear that the 98-99 300 ProMax's are soft on power...about 280-285hp, but it is all in the ECU programing...2000-up they made the 300hp they're supposed to from what I heard. With some programming updates or aftermarket ECU units are pulling 320+HP on a stock ProMax, and 350+ HP on a stock 300X. I wonder what "hot rod" parts are out there for the 300's now and what power gains are possible???

Anyway, you have one sweet CHECKMATE there SCT...

DROOL...DROOL....

Awesome Shannon!
Good call on the 300X also. I got the chance to drive one at this years Rumble and it was the most impressive O/B I've ever driven!! Started, shifted, idled like a fish motor but pulled like a race motor but with noe of the drama!!
You will have one bad ass sleepr to be sure

Your boat looks awesome! I went with the pop-up cleats also. May have to email you to find out more on the nice steering wheel? Your old immaculate Pulsare and mine is at Robert's Marine in Roberts Wisconsin! 715-749-4133. Ask for Bob

Any idea what Roberts is Asking for them??? Do they have a web sight as well... Just curious!

SCT...I can't wait to see that 300X BR come to life... Needs to be a magazine boat for sure!!!

Keep us all posted please...

Jim.

I know Roberts has a solid red 1996 long deck with a 200 EFI on it that they want $18,500 now or $19,500 in the spring. I think they also have it advertised in boattrader.com.

I talked to Bob from Roberts marina to get some information on it. He says it is in immaculate condition. If it were an open bow I’d probably be making him an offer.

Jrmon,
That is FastRog and my old red boat. I sold the 300PM seperately and Roger put the 200 on the boat. The boat is in great shape....but the price seems a little high.

SCT

Thanks SCT... I just got fnshrmaster's old 92 Starflight from kip to "get me by"... Out of currosity, what did the 300PM sell for (what year, lower unit, and hours)???
icon_wink.gif

I might want to upgrade this 200 XRi to a 300PM for kicks & giggles! I got the factory tour today, and DROOL, DROOL, DROOL!!! I see good things happening at CHECKMATE!!!

SCT... did you get your 300X ordered yet???
surf.gif

(I found a NEW 2004 in the crate for $17K)... Jim

P.S. Looks like a 300PM is in the near future for the Starflight!

Hey jrmon,

I already ordered an 05' 300X. It should be here later next week. Hopefully, I'll be in the water within 2-3 weeks.

That is a good price on an 04, but being a new boat I want to keep the years the same.

SCT

Oh yeah, my engine was a 98 300 ProMax OS w/ a sportmaster gearcase. It sold it for around 10K a couple of years ago.

Good luck with the StarFlite.

Hey, Thanks for the info SCT... seems prices are up & down all over... unfortunitly, the closest one to me is Craig's (and the nicest)...but $11,750 is out of question for my $8000 boat!

I'm trying to keep this boat "marketable" and find one in the $8000ish? range if possible (and have an offer in on one pending)...otherwise I'm just building the 2.5L 200XRi for more punch!!! Jim.

My 300X is being delivered tomorrow!!!!
I can't wait. Does anyone of any 28-30' choppers or ETs for sale?

SCT

I love the boat....I second Chris, a 330 Promax is good if you are just interested in showing off to people on their docks...but if you are using the boat for practical purposes too, i.e. skiing, wake/kneeboarding, tubing, and just cruising the lakes, a 250 XS would be optimal...You would save a ton on gas and your neighbours wouldn't hate you, those Promax's are terribly noisy....also, if a 250 xs doesn't give ya enough speed or a thrill, then ya must try skydiving or something!!! You should easily clock 80 with a 250 xs, the 225's clock about 75 or so from my experience...

B.P.

I'm mainly buying a 300X because Mercury is going to stop making the motor on Feb. 1 of this year. I will probably keep the motor when I sell the rig. I agree the 250xs is an all around better motor.....but I usuallly only go out by myself to blow off steam on the weekdays. Plus, I want to see if the boat will run 93-95.

Each their own I guess,
SCT
