I was thinking the same thing on the drive shower.. gonna drive it first and see where it stands with the current setup, I may have to look into an imco shorty, or maybe somthing else. I'm hoping to stumble across an old blackhawk for it... that or an arnesonMan you did it! you drove to Ca.
It reminds me of the 21' Nordics set up for ski race I see around the lake they run well into the 90s .
Was it recalibrated for high altitude? If the last owner was running at 6500 ft. You may have asked that question.
So what pitch prop does it have on it? Looks like you could use another drive shower.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you're going to be out this way, we can go for a ride!Nick, That is a gorgeous ride. I have never driven a 21 SB with an I/O but with the motor in the boat it is going to be very well balanced. You have one for the ages!. I think I am going to have to take a ride out to Lima Ohio for a ride in it. I am kind of glad you did not buy mine 'cause I think deep down I dont really want to sell it. Best of luck with the 21!

Believe me, if things were going a little better, I would have brought your 21 back this way! Thats the nicest 21 out there- better than new.![]()
I asked Rick/FX10 over at oso about this boat... from photos I have found, this started to look like its the only one that superboat made with the blackhawk drive.... well, turns out it is. So, that means this is the boat that ran 96mph with a stock 502...This boat had the Blackhawk drive on it orginally... I know for a fact that at least two were made that way. The other one ran 96 on gps from what I've read w/a stock 502. The first owner replaced the blackhawk with a B1, so if you look closely you can see the different decals on the drive/transom assy. I'd love to get ahold of a blackhawk drive. I know that props are hard to come by, though.
I do know a guy that has a BH drive for sale and 3sets of props to go with it... gonna be pricey, though and my budget is looking like chit.
Here is the good stuff! Its a balanced and blueprinted 509ci motor. 4.5"bore 4.0"stroke. It has edlebrock aluminum marine heads, 10:1 comp, msd ign w/5800rpm chip, an adjustable fuel regulator, imco exhaust, intake runners cut flush with plenum, crower cam (full roller valve train), Arizona speed and marine did the ecu and it has one on thier throttle bodies, 15qt oil pan. It has 46hrs on it since it was built (276hrs on hull). I'm the third owner. The first one lived in CT, then it went to Cali, now its in Ohio. Supposedly freshwater only. The last owner ran it a lake Taho (6500ft) and saw 78mph on the gps speedo. I figure 18% power loss at that altitued? If so, this should be a handful!
Thanks for the compliments... my 24 Super was almost as clean when I bought it- now its really clean.Thats the cleanest engine compartment I've ever seen on a used boat!![]()
Well... I'm going to school for the next year, so any drive modifications will have to wait. I contacted Mr.Gadgets and let know what was going on. This is subject to change if the Exciter finds a new owner this spring- although I don't mind it if it sticks around, I would really like to get it into the 80s this coming season.
If nothing else, I'll get a base line in the 21 with the stock bravo this year and work on my ecu tuning with the help of a wideband O2 and precision marine... if it needs it. Thats going to be the extent of it for now, it looks like.
This last year was the roughest by far with my job and I can't pass up the oppertunity to get some more training that will give me another carrer option... also, the timing works out good for school- so, I figure why not? It drives me absolutely nuts not being able to work on plans that I've made for another year![]()
