Tri-mate 2 over haul.

Great job on the overhaul. Its all gonna be worth it when you have the best Tri-mate around! not for nothing it'll last forever too.
will it be painted a solid yellow or do you have a color scheme planned out? This sure is gonna be a beauty

Boats going to be yellow. The body line About 8" by the rubrail is going to be black. All the deckharware, (gas fill, vents, over flow and pop up cleats) are black. Gages are black. Interior is white with yellow inserts, carpet is light grey.

The stock windshield will be going back on. But like the boat its not stock any more. Here is a pic. The one on the left is factory, the one on the right is about 6" shorter. Made a world of difference in the way it looks.

The only part that is going to be a pain is filling the motor mounting holes. Have to re-drill the holes for the new style bolt patteren on the hyd jack plate.

The shorter windshield is going to definitely make a world of a diffrence in my opinion. much sportier. I was never a fan of the big windshields.

Reminds me of the old glastron bow riders...yuck!

Did you replace the glass or just cut it?
I am thinking about chopping the predictors WS about an inch or so...

For the record, you cannot cut down a glass one, they are tempered and will shatter into a 1000 pieces.

Thanks Mark, Thats what I thought. I asked about this before and the guy said the same thing. I was going to use plexy for the predictor anyways because its cheap, light and so easy to work with.
Gus, how did you get the curve in the plexy glass?
did you use a heat gun or something?

I got lucky on the curve. When I took the measurements for the cut one of the factors in how much I took off was the curve. There was enough room in the bottom window fram to make up for the difference. It was very minor and I did not have to reshape anything.

Ya just have to love polyester spot filler. Goes on nice, comes off nice. What I though was about 12 spots turned into a bit more. Nothing major just real little stuff. The average human man have never seen it when the paint is on, but I would. Sand sand sand, oh I love it. Also on a side note. Epoxy primer is the cats butt. I can't believe how easy it sands. Does not clog up the paper and smooth down real nice. Getting better every day.

The Trimate is Looking really good Gus. Keep up all the hard work. It's going to be even badder than the first time you rebuilt it. Test fitting the wind shield while upside down to see how it looked

Like to have seen that. Only a checkmate owner will go that far for the custom cool!

Well, the minor bad spots are fixed. Transom motor mounting holes are filled, boat is sanded. Next will be to wash it off again. Spray to more coats of primer. Sand one final time, wash again. Then its color time. Looking to spray the black this friday.

Boat washed, merc cover sanded and washed. Evertrhing is ready for another coat of primer. I am hoping the weather is desent this week end. I WANT COLOR.

Well I got a wild hair and taped the boat off and shot 2 coats of primer on the engine cover and 2 more coats on the boat. There still looks to be a few spots on the bottom but in the wise words of my better half " why are you doing all that? its the bottom and who is going to see it" Very wise words indeed.
