Vintage Jetmate

Very nice workmanship.... keep up the good work. If I ever bought a jet boat I would have to find a classic checkmate to re work ~ very sexy shape~

Hey I know this comes a little late on 2 accounts...my chris craft was a 19' and I think using a glass car hood for your hatch would have been the way to go, just use the pattern you made and cut out the center of a hood, re-inforce the edges and mold in your scoop....sorry on the late idea...good luck ! Rob

Yea, that's pretty much what I have done. I put a layer of glass on the top so far, and some reinforcing ribs on the under side. I'll start back on it after the Holidays and post some more Pics. I do have a picture of the scoop posted in here.

Thanks Bob (Jet)

WOW Cool Boat! Not much room for any more motor thats for sure!

Nice looking ride. I like the blue trim on a boat. You don't see that to often. Usually purple or green. I much prefer your color combo. Where do you boat? I am from Maryland also. :bigthumb:

Thanks, I live in North East Md. I use the ramp at Anchor marina at the top of the North East River (next to the Nauti Goose), In the past we typically stuck around up on the upper bay but with the new boat we should be heading down a little further south. Where are you at?

I put in on the Magothy river, Just north of the Bay Bridge. I rarely hit the bay, boat's to small if it gets ruff. If you get down that way next summer give me a shout on the forum.

The Bumper Bash is a big event at Dobbins Island. I'll let everyone know the dates when it gets close.

Cool,,, Mine used to be gold and brown. You gotta post some pics. Use a sight like photo bucket. Once you put your pics there you will have a URL address to post on this sight. Just click on the icon at the top of the box where you post your checkmate message (it looks like a little yellow postcard) and copy and past the URL for that picture.

Here's A few more pics of the hatch I'm building for my Jetmate. Not in a huge hurry to finish it. I can run without it like I've always done.

2010_0307newfujifinepix0089.jpgGluing and installing support ribs. I made them with a slight arch so the hatch would match the contour of the boat. It worked out real well.

2010_0307newfujifinepix0088.jpgI'll cut the center section of the support rib out later, after I get some fiberglass on it.

2010_0307newfujifinepix0241.jpgThe small hole to the side of the large airs scoop opening is for the valve cover breather. I'm going to fab a small bubble to allow for room.

2010_0307newfujifinepix0235.jpgA few pictures of the under side, Glassing in the support ribs.

2010_0307newfujifinepix0245.jpgI threw a little left over black spray paint on the under side. I'll give it a good final coat when all the fabricating is done.

If your talking about the tube vents, I got them at either Lowes or Home Depot. I've seen them in aluminum and plastic. All they are, is soffit vents for houses. I think most are plastic now and they come in different sizes.

Put some inexpensive black enamel on to seal and look for imperfections. Most will be sanded off and Imron will be applied.
