What do you pull your checkmate with??

fixed many a hole in transoms from those!:poke: The boss in a big hurry...quick Paul fix that before the owners get here! Was job security for sure!

Very interesting you say that.....
I'm going to the marina tomorow nite to repair two "chunks" in the transom, right at the end of the strake just to the right of the speedo sensor -- it was {and could only have} been done by the end of the fork on the lift truck, -- the owner/operator obviously said ---"no way, my lift operators are the best around and would NEVER let something like that happen"

Hmmm, sometimes I wonder if I really look like I was born yesterday :pissed:

No doubt!

1988 Checkmate Starflite/1988 Merc 2.4L 200
C-Hawk single axle trailer w/ surge brakes and aluminum step platforms, pinstriped to match the boat
1999 Ford Explorer Sport 2WD 5 speed manual, 4.0L pushrod (torquey v6)

It actually pulls really nice, and the short wheelbase Explorer makes backing up a breeze. The Ex comes with 4 wheel disc brakes w/ dual piston calipers up front, but when it needed brakes I went all out on ATE slotted rotors (front) and Akebono pads on all four corners.

I'd like to get matching alloys for the trailer but they'd probably get jacked at the boat ramp after dark.

Haha.....Wait till your warranty runs out....that is when stuff starts wearing out on those "trucks." Expect major repairs between 60-90k miles. Been that way for all 10 in our fleet. Our 2010's reaching 80k need wheel bearings and ball joints. No towing, just driving. They are even well maintained! Don't get me started on the diesels either. There is a reason we got rid of all but one.

Nice looking truck though! I do really like the look, ride, and interior of the new Fords. The engines finally are getting some pep. The 06 5.4L I used to have was an absolute disaster of an engine. The new ones we get seem to run well and even the Ecoboost moves. They are stepping it up big-time. The durability still hasn't been improved IMO.

Everyone has there own experience's with durability, if I compare the Chevy/fords I've had the ford wins every time, my last ford didn't need any front end work till 125k miles, my dads 2011 ecoboost is a beast, pulling a 26ft enclosed trailer I beat my Fil's 2012 Chevy in a short race on the way to the lake and he wasn't towing anything...

Sweet truck man, wish I could afford one!

Dark side? Think not.. Traded that junker in for a real truck. :D

I like them both. Your old truck was nice but limiting, the new one is very nice and capable of alot more. I have owned my share of chevs and ford and they both had their high and low loints.

As far as I'm concerned ---- BUY AMERICAN,
All the truck manufacturers have something going for them --- just pick correctly for the application.

Love my Ford ----- 164000 miles and running great and I beat the crap out of it on the trails, and it pulls my 3000lb boat.
