Puts the prop shaft @ about 5" below the pad vs buried at almost 8" with the stock alpha

Not sure how i missed this before, but i did! What's this new lower unit Brian?? Where'd u find it? A shorty Alpha lower, i've nver seen or heard of one before! That's a mod i'd be interested in down the road for my Enchanter, what's the story man?

Jason,
I could tell you, but I'd have to kill ya
LOL it's a alpha ss drive. I bought it on a guy in Canada, eh! They are a very rare drive that is 2 3/4" shorter than the stock alpha. They are stupid money but I've heard of 5-7mph gains on stock power. I will see what she runs sooner or later :D I looked for 3 years to find this one. It was low hours, clean, and a decent price compared to the other couple I found over the past years!

Ahhhh so that's an Alpha SS drive, i didn't know they were shorty race style lowers. Is the upper any stronger than a stock Alpha? I don't why nobody, including Mercury, isn't reproducing those outdrives, not everybody wants to upgrade to a Bravo.

if you can find one you going to pay in excess of 2 k for one.. the parts in the upper is the same as the standard upper gen 1 alphas..the center shaft is nla so that part is out and the lower uses the same parts as the cle (bridgeport 2.5l outboard) lower case.

Thanks Keith :bigthumb: That center shaft is a big problem if a failure happens. I am sure I got enough connections that I could make something happen to get her back together tho.

The other option that I looked into for the green boat was going this route. http://rlcboats.com/ He was a supporting vendor for a short time here. Some of his parts are pretty bad azz. The only thing I am not sure about is the sectioning of the upper. I'm sure it would be fine but I would like to talk to some people who have bought a shorty from them

If I ever got the chance to buy a I/O that needed a transom and paint, I would lower the x-dim 2" and go with a 4 1/2" shorter drive. That would allow a bigger motor under the stock enchanter hatch :D.

I do think the red boat has a lower x-dim than the green boat did. I should have measured it, but it wasn't high on the list at the time. I say this as "WI's" stock manifolds touched the stock hatch. I got about 3/4" between the stock manifolds and the stock hatch on this boat. This will help to hide those lightnings under there if I decide to put that ol junkyard 265ci 162hp sbc in there ;)

Enough talk! Stop driving around in your big boy fancy pants boat and take that Enchanter out and give us a report already. I think I'm more excited to hear how the little one runs than the big one. Probably because the big one is probably never going to be in the cards unless I hit the lottery but the Enchanter is on my list of boats to own.

So as promised........ work has started again :D
New fuel fill hose to replace the rotten one. I figured I might as well replace the cheap looking fill neck and vent with some Eddie Marine goodies. Vent is flush mount

Then up to the gauges and the "OH SH1T" handle, all trimmed out in Eddie goodies as well. Livorsi silver carbon fiber gauges with monster tach and GPS speedo!

Got to cut out for the new radio. No more 2-knob-r! ;)

And also the IMCO steering wheel to match the IMCO full hydro steering setup!
