This one or its near twin was for sale last year for quite a bit less money. Ask him how long he's owned it. All prices are negotiable.
 
just as reference point, last spring I bought a 2000 24 zt with 150 hrs for 16.5. I wouldn't drive down the street to look at it at that price. Have him cut the price in near half first

Might not be priced right, but that sure is a great looking boat. I don't think asking price is too far out of line if it's the real deal...but it's up there. Good luck.

Boat looked great from 10' away. Lol.
Owner had it for 5 weeks and was selling because he didn't like the way it handled. He wants a Convincer.
You could tell this one sat in the water and not on a lift for its life. Waterline etched into hull and faded gel.
Interior needed all new vinyl and wood replace. Floor seemed solid.
"The last owner replaced the engine with a used one out of a cruiser with twins."
It sounded good though.
I don't know if this is an issue but the prop was tight when turning by hand, both ways, while in neutral. The drive had a little bit of play when lifting up on it. It also looked like it had the steering pin replaced because it had a metal plate screwed on to the gimble housing.

Ram was missing from hatch, trim tab unit mounted to inside of transom was cracked.

The boat just looked a little neglected...dirty and little things broken that a proud Checkmate owner would have taken care of.

I would have been interested at $8,000 or $9,000 (just like you guys said) but I did not want to upset the owner with that offer.
